This page summarizes how you can use Gemini Code Assist with Apigee to assist in API design, development, and management.

Enable the Gemini for Google Cloud API for your project

During preview, you do not need to enable or activate the Gemini Code Assist add-on to your project to use the Gemini Code Assist features and functionality for Apigee. You will need to enable the Gemini for Google Cloud API on your project. For more information, see Enable the Gemini for Google Cloud API in a Google Cloud project.

Gemini Code Assist for API design and development

The Gemini Code Assist features in Apigee:

• Use natural language prompts and your API hub enterprise context to design new APIs. See Designing APIs with Gemini Code Assist.
• "Code explain" functionality provides information on policy elements and their usage when creating API proxies, directly in the Apigee console. See Using Gemini Code Assist code explain with policies.
