Apigee's policy for Kubernetes version support
For each hybrid minor release:
- A maximum of three versions of a given Kubernetes platform are supported.
- At least one version of the Kubernetes platform overlaps with the previous minor release of Apigee hybrid.
- Platform versions are supported for at most three hybrid minor releases (for example, v1.9, v1.10, and v1.11) or until that version is no longer supported (EOL) by the vendor, whichever comes first.
- Beginning with hybrid v1.10, new platform versions are added only in hybrid minor releases (x.y), and not patch releases (x.y.z).
-
When support for a new Kubernetes version is added, the lowest version supported in the previous minor release of Apigee hybrid is dropped.
At the time of release, Apigee hybrid was compatible with the versions of the platforms listed in the following table. Over time, these versions will reach an EOL date and are no longer supported as indicated with an EOL symbol . It is your responsibility to ensure that you are using a supported version.
Apigee hybrid is compatible with the following versions of these platforms:

About attached clusters
For Apigee hybrid versions 1.7.x and older, you must use GKE attached clusters if you want to run Apigee hybrid in a multi-cloud context on Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), or another supported third-party Kubernetes service provider. Cluster attachment allows Google to measure the usage of Cloud Service Mesh.
For Apigee hybrid version 1.8.x, GKE attached clusters are required if you are using Cloud Service Mesh for your ingress gateway. If you are using Apigee ingress gateway, attached clusters are optional.
Supported versions
Support for Apigee hybrid follows the Runtime plane version support policy. The policy states that Apigee hybrid minor versions are supported for at most 12 months from their original release.
