With the aim of democratizing and simplifying credit operations in Brazil, EasyCrédito connects individuals directly with financial institutions and partner banks to facilitate access to personal loans. This startup, located in Goiânia, acts as the credit branch of FitBank, an infratech company present in several Latin American countries.
EasyCrédito had been using other cloud providers since it was founded in 2015. However, in 2018, the team decided to migrate to Google Cloud, mainly as it had participated in Google for Startups—Google’s program supporting startup growth—and as virtual machines are easy to use.
At that time, EasyCrédito was looking to turn its platform into a marketplace, but the results were not as expected in order to move forward. In 2019, the business strategy changed: the organization decided to become a credit hub focused on using a public API for credit searches and creating white label platforms for existing digital businesses to build their own credit marketplaces.
This change in goals also required a new IT strategy. The startup needed an option to scale its infrastructure rapidly during marketing campaigns in each of the new channels generated through the white label platforms, which expanded the volume of users at any given time and, therefore, also increased service applications.
The support of Google Cloud engineers fulfilled these needs. They helped EasyCrédito’s team migrate the existing VM structure to microservices in Cloud Run and Cloud Functions. This enabled the organization not only to simply and quickly scale up or down as needed, but also to redimension costs based on used workloads.
However, after solving the first issue, another problem arose: the sudden increase in the number of customers and applications led to a surge in the volume of data. The IT and business teams were now concerned with how to assess data more efficiently.
Next, supported by SantoDigital, a Google Cloud partner, EasyCrédito began to consider using other public cloud tools to support management and improve the analysis of insights obtained.
New strategies based on data
Previously, EasyCrédito used to rely on a read-only database replication service. The teams from both the startup and SantoDigital jointly decided to create a production database replication architecture in BigQuery using tools such as Datastream, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub for real-time data ingestion.
SantoDigital was always present in planning all implementation details, such as audit logs, performance, and the total cost of cloud investment.

—Alan Pires, Sales Executive, SantoDigitalThanks to the wide variety of BI, machine learning and artificial intelligence resources offered by BigQuery, the organization managed to resume its analytical capacity and also save costs by leaving the legacy solution behind.
"Our idea with this project was for business areas to gain real-time visibility over everything. We operate on a 24/7 basis, and we constantly receive reports on customer indicators. Launching a product or campaign is also influenced by how fast we obtain insights."
—Egio Arruda Junior, CTO, EasyCréditoLogs related to the operations of the new infrastructure are unified under Cloud Logging for simplified analysis, with no authorizations needed for other cloud resources. Cloud Armor is another significant component, which protects external-facing modules and ensures service protection.
Scalability, innovation, and more agile decisions
The use of Google Cloud enables the EasyCrédito’s team to easily set up cloud-native resources, supported by a vast amount of documentation. Scale flexibility for resources provides the organization with freedom to operate based on the level of demand.
The startup now spends more time on innovation and less on infrastructure maintenance, and leverages data-driven insights to make decisions.

—Egio Arruda Junior, CTO, EasyCréditoChanges in infrastructure also enabled 50% cost savings on databases, as well as a 6x increase in the capacity to respond to user requests and a 40% lower total cloud cost.
"EasyCrédito now executes best practices in the data platform and has built a reference architecture. After modernizing data operations, its environment is now more structured, providing insights quickly with no downtime in production," explained Alan Pires, Sales Executive at SantoDigital.
The startup intends to continue developing and updating. One of its plans is to incorporate Looker into its environment, to add to the data-driven analysis and response progress made so far. Considering this scenario, the organization is looking to achieve even more effective and useful analysis to keep offering the best services to individuals and financial institutions across the country.
