Auto Avaliar is a popular B2B automotive eCommerce platform for used vehicles in Brazil. More than 30,000 multi-brand stores and 3,500 dealerships leverage Auto Avaliar's secure, end-to-end digital services to evaluate, list, and bid on pre-owned cars and trucks. With a 90% market share Auto Avaliar annually appraises over 2.4 million vehicles and generates 1.4 billion in sales.

Auto Avaliar relies on secure, low-latency Google Cloud infrastructure to power its end-to-end platform while supporting seamless integration with B2C automotive eCommerce sites. Auto Avaliar also partners with Managed Services Provider SantoDigital to fine-tune the performance of key Google Cloud solutions that enable the company to rapidly appraise vehicles, securely process financial transactions, and deliver actionable analytics. These include BigQuery, CloudSQL, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Looker.
Migrating to Google Cloud
Auto Avaliar began its Google Cloud journey shortly after multinational automotive manufacturing corporation Stellantis N.V. initiated a multi-stage purchase of the company. Although Auto Avaliar was poised to expand into new markets, legacy data center infrastructure couldn't cost-effectively or efficiently scale to support additional users, new applications, and evolving security requirements.
"Our appraisal app and bidding portal slowed considerably if we exceeded 5,000-6,000 simultaneous connections," recalls Alves. "Moreover, IT issues often took hours to resolve, while new services and features required months of development and testing before they were ready to launch. Instead of focusing on R&D, most of our time and budget was spent managing outdated infrastructure and putting out fires."

With help from SantoDigital, Auto Avaliar migrated its entire platform to Google Cloud and added many Google Cloud solutions to the company's technology stack. "Dedicated consultants worked closely with our IT and engineering teams to complete a flawless migration while implementing key features such as autoscaling to further optimize performance," says Alves.
Efficiently processing 200,000 monthly vehicles appraisals
Since migrating to Google Cloud, Auto Avaliar efficiently processes thousands of simultaneous appraisals while securely completing transactions. "Google Cloud automatically scales to support an almost unlimited number of simultaneous users, enabling us to process appraisals and sales 90% faster," says Alves. "With Google Cloud, we're now efficiently and cost-effectively processing more than 200,000 monthly appraisals and facilitating the annual sale and purchase of over 144,000 vehicles."

"We're decreasing mean time to resolution (MTTR) from four hours to less than 10 minutes with the help of SantoDigital and Google Cloud," says Alves.
The out-of-the-box security capabilities of Google Cloud also makes it easy for Auto Avaliar to comply with strict international data privacy laws, standards, and frameworks such as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO). "Google Cloud annually saves us $5,000 by automatically updating security protocols to address new threats and comply with evolving cyber security legislation."

SantoDigital continues to help Auto Avaliar scale its B2B automotive eCommerce platform by fine-tuning key Google Cloud solutions to efficiently process high-speed, low-latency queries. For instance, the partner helped Auto Avaliar deploy Cloud Load Balancing to support up to one million queries per second while proactively identifying potential issues with Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging. Auto Avaliar uses App Engine, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and Firebase to quickly build, test, and launch new services and features such as Car Invest, which analyzes demand and price based on location and vehicle model. Initially, a proof of concept was created and later we worked with consulting services within our managed services, such as modernizing and re-architecting applications to improve the performance of the environment as the client gained maturity on the Google Cloud.
"We previously lacked a dedicated development environment and depended on third parties to bring new products and features to market," Alves recalls. "With the help of Google Cloud, we're significantly reducing development and launch cycles while accelerating time to market (TTM) 40%. Car Invest, which we're currently piloting, took 4 months from build to beta."
Auto Avaliar relies on the high-performance capabilities of Cloud SQL to rapidly synchronize data across databases, storage systems, and applications. Cloud SQL seamlessly integrates with BigQuery and Looker to analyze and visualize data on customer-facing dashboards. "Combining BigQuery with Looker empowers our customers to lower costs and increase revenue by making better business decisions based on-real time, actionable data."
In the future, Auto Avaliar plans to deploy Google Cloud artificial intelligence and machine learning products such as Vertex AI and AutoML to support new features such as predictive analytics.
