About Qi Network

As a company specializing in cloud innovation for productivity, infrastructure modernization, and data intelligence, Qi Network works to solve business challenges.

After migrating with the support of Qi Network, the company noticed increased team productivity, higher browsing speed for system users, and improved app performance.

Results

  • Handles 700 https requests per second
  • Ingests over 140 GB of data every day
  • Flexible load balancing
  • High availability for the platform

Serves 14,000+ users simultaneously

Established in 1995, MicroWork Softwares offers comprehensive system solutions for two- and four-wheel vehicle dealerships. Based in Americana, in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, the company has around 100 employees and provides its customers with a complete infrastructure and specialized technical support.

Support is provided in real time, through chat and phone calls, and MicroWork’s products operate fully online. The company’s mission, therefore, is delivering full dealership management to their customers wherever they are and from any electronic device.

However, the company was facing a few technical challenges with its existing service provider. Data center operations were unstable and did not ensure the ability to automate and improve scalability. Moreover, the system would often become unavailable, causing losses for MicroWork’s dealership customers.

Finally, after spending some time looking for information and conducting a rigorous selection process, the company chose Google Cloud because it offered the security, ease of access, and resources the company needed. During this period, working alongside Qi Network proved essential to meet migration deadlines and expectations.

The change and early results

MicroWork began planning its environment’s migration to the cloud in June 2019. Qi Network and Google Cloud’s teams supported the process through meetings, online training, and visits to the company headquarters.

“We already made arrangements for a series of tests at our first meeting with Qi, and a team of experts came to guide us. Every issue we had was quickly solved or mitigated.”

Rogério Bassete, Head of Technology, MicroWork Softwares

To complete all the steps, the company created a copy of its environment inside Google Cloud, ran quality tests, and confirmed everything worked perfectly.

Some customers entered the production environment right away to check factors such as network latency, and the changes also met expectations. Migration was completed right after the end of this phase in November 2019.

“Performance, apps, and the latency issue were all highly positive, as we saw how fast everything was happening. We achieved many benefits after optimizing the hardware, especially due to the cloud’s features.”

Marcos Gileno, Customer Solutions Architect, Qi Network

As the company previously used to pay a fixed cost to use a specific number of machines, the migration made the project highly dynamic, particularly where autoscaling is concerned.

The flexibility gained, for instance, from using 70 machines in certain periods of a month and 20 in other situations without an increase in demand, has ended up making infrastructure management easier.

“In our opinion, flexible load balancing is this transformation’s main differentiator. We’re currently tracking this new phase’s progress and have seen that the company’s technical competence and technology-oriented thinking can drive even more achievements,” says Qi Network’s Customer Solutions Architect.

More benefits

The company’s current infrastructure comprises virtual machines running on Compute Engine. There are independent ratification, support, and production environments, and the production area uses instance groups for scaling.

Cloud Storage helps the company store transactional data, such as requests, purchases, and other kinds of files. Much of what is in MicroWork’s ERP system is also sent to Cloud Storage. BigQuery also comes in handy for providing information and data analytics.

Overall, Google Cloud’s services made it possible to service 14,000+ users simultaneously, handle 700 https requests per second, and ingest over 140 GB of data every day.

Besides these benefits of using the platform, MicroWork’s head of technology adds that the nationwide latency for Brazil is outstanding, in some cases less than nine milliseconds. There are also faster browsing speeds for system users, high availability for the platform, and scalability for the environment. Thanks to these improvements, customers have become better protected and more confident in the services available to them.

“We went from being reactive to proactive. Every department started focusing on honing processes, implementing new technologies in the management system, and even launching new products.”
