This document explains Looker pricing details. If you pay in a currency other than USD, the prices listed in your currency on Cloud Platform SKUs apply.

Looker (Google Cloud core) pricing overview

Looker (Google Cloud core) pricing has two main components:

Platform pricing is the cost to run a Looker (Google Cloud core) instance and includes platform administration, integrations, and semantic modeling capabilities.
User pricing is the cost for licensing individual users to access the Looker platform. These costs will vary based on the type of user and their permissions within the Looker (Google Cloud core) platform.

Every Looker (Google Cloud core) instance that you create has a billing account attached to it. Any charges incurred by creating a new instance and/or adding named users to that instance are billed to the attached billing account.

Platform editions

Looker (Google Cloud core) offer three platform editions:

Standard: A Looker (Google Cloud core) product for small organizations or teams with fewer than 50 users that includes one production instance, 10 Standard Users, 2 Developer Users, upgrades, up to 1,000 query-based API calls per month, and up to 1,000 administrative API calls per month.
Enterprise: A Looker (Google Cloud core) product with enhanced security features for a wide variety of internal BI and analytics use cases that includes one production instance, 10 Standard Users, 2 Developer Users, upgrades, up to 100,000 query-based API calls per month, and up to 10,000 administrative API calls per month.
Embed: A Looker (Google Cloud core) product for deploying and maintaining external analytics and custom applications at scale that includes one production instance, 10 Standard Users, 2 Developer Users, upgrades, up to 500,000 query-based API calls per month, and up to 100,000 administrative API calls per month.

Each platform comes with ten standard users and two developer users included. Annual subscriptions are available in one, two, and three-year terms.

User licensing

There are three different types of Looker user licenses:

Developer User: An End User provisioned on a Looker (Google Cloud core) platform for access to any combination of Looker interfaces including Administration, LookML Models (including Development Mode), Folders, Boards, Dashboards, Looks (individual reports & charts), Explore, SQL Runner, Scheduling, the Looker API interfaces, and access to Support.
Standard User: An End User provisioned on a Looker (Google Cloud core) platform for access to Folders, Boards, Dashboards, Looks (individual reports & charts), Explore, SQL Runner, and Scheduling Looker interfaces. Standard User privileges include data filtering, drill-to-row-level-detail, data downloads, Dashboard or Look creation, and view-only access to LookML. Standard User privileges do not include access to Development Mode, Administration, the Looker API interfaces, or Support.
Viewer User: An End User provisioned on a Looker (Google Cloud core) platform for access to Folders, Boards, Dashboards, and Looks (individual reports & charts) Looker interfaces. Viewer User privileges include data filtering, drill-to-row-level-detail, Scheduling, data downloads, and view-only access to LookML. Viewer User privileges do not include Dashboard or Look creation, or access to Development Mode, Administration, SQL Runner, Explore, the Looker API interfaces, or Support.

Unless otherwise specified in a subscription to Looker (Google Cloud core), Google reserves the right to issue additional invoices or charges to Customer in arrears if Customer's use of Looker (Google Cloud core) exceeds allowed usage under the subscription, with the pricing listed at the Fees URL applying to that excess usage.

Conversational Analytics in Looker

Conversational Analytics usage in Looker (Google Cloud core) and Looker (original) is measured in data tokens, which quantify the advanced data processing and model orchestration driving your insights. This includes translating natural language into governed Looker queries, routing requests to specialized tools, and synthesizing secure semantic context. Managed at the Looker instance level, usage is categorized into input data tokens (context, history, and metadata instructions) and output data tokens (visualizations and natural language response).

Input Data Tokens: These are the data tokens sent to the model for processing. This might include:
Prompts sent to the agent
The conversational history of a session
Relevant context (such as LookML semantic metadata and agent instructions)
Output Data Tokens: These are the tokens the model generates and sends back as part of a response. This might include:
A natural language response to a question
The API call or query generated to retrieve data
Any other text or code generated by the model as part of the response
Thoughts and reasoning shown in Thinking mode
A visualization created by the model

These input and output data tokens are the basis for calculating monthly usage across Looker's conversational analytics and data agent capabilities, including conversational experiences in Explore and Dashboards, standalone and embedded agents, the Conversational Analytics endpoints in the Looker API, and Looker agents in Gemini Enterprise.

Included monthly data token allocations

Data token allocations are applied at the instance level as an aggregated monthly pool shared across all authenticated users on that instance. Because tokens are pooled at the instance level, all active users can draw from the shared instance inclusion.

For Looker (Google Cloud core) and Looker (original) subscriptions, each paid user activated within the platform adds a monthly token allocation to the shared pool. The instance pool size scales dynamically based on the enabled users within the instance.

The total data token inclusion can be calculated by multiplying the per user allocation listed above by the number of users of each type within a Looker instance.

Production instance minimum: All production instances receive a minimum of 60,000,000 (60M) input data tokens and 1,200,000 (1.2M) output data tokens.
Non-production instances: All non-production and add-on instances receive a flat, baseline allocation of 40,000,000 (40M) input data tokens and 800,000 (800K) output data tokens per month to support development and testing.

Data token allocations will reset every month and unused tokens will not roll over. These tokens are ring-fenced to Looker and are not fungible across other Data Cloud surfaces.

Customers currently enjoy promotional access to Conversational Analytics in Looker without allocation limits or billing for additional usage (within fair usage limits) through January 31, 2027. During this promotional period, organizations can baseline usage patterns using Looker's System Activity dashboards.

Starting February 1, 2027, monthly token allocations and pay-as-you-go billing for additional usage take effect. Usage that extends beyond an instance's included monthly data token allocation is billed at the end of each month to your linked Google Cloud billing account based on actual usage:

Input data tokens: $3.00 per 1M tokens
Output data tokens: $20.00 per 1M tokens
