Multiplied its turnover by 500%

MAGIIS is an Argentine company providing a white label proprietary SaaS platform and marketplace for passenger transport providers. The company’s operation center is located in Miami, United States of America, and it has 25 collaborators, offices, and distributors across Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru.

The passenger transport industry is a significant driver of the global economy. It is formed by multiple private and public transport providers that, in the main, still base their operations on manual processes preventing them from competing and growing in the new digital economy.

MAGIIS provides transport suppliers with a platform that streamlines trip requests through multiple traditional and digital channels, such as customized mobile applications, chat, IVR (Interactive Voice Response), and the internet.

The company offers autonomous dispatch algorithms, payment gateways, driver assistance, as well as automated asset tracking for customers through a next-generation omni-channel interface, 100%-automated processes, and better communication between suppliers, passengers, and fleets.

With MAGIIS, providers can focus on offering a high-quality service to their passengers and creating a world-class vehicle-always-available experience. They can also negotiate and share vehicles with other providers, thus increasing operational profitability and market coverage.

Seeking a better application for customers

In an industry where profitability is strongly linked to the reliability and availability afforded by the platform used by transport providers, drivers, and passengers, MAGIIS faced a twofold challenge.

On the one hand, the company had to provide customers with accurate, real-time information on locations, trip costs, and pick-up times so that the tool would support business growth.

On the other, they needed to develop a customized application for each transport provider that would be easy for both passengers and drivers to adopt. Moreover, the company had to operate seamlessly regardless of the geography or infrastructure, especially in areas densely populated with skyscrapers —such as New York, Miami, or Bogota— or with no cellular connection —like remote regions of Latin America— to ensure operational continuity.

In this context, MAGIIS needed a fail-proof tool that would go beyond local GPS to remove any risk of inaccurate information and guarantee 100% availability. With the help of Google Cloud’s technological partner aeros, the company had the support it needed to boost the use of Google Maps Platform, which the company had already implemented for its business.

"Our strategic partnership with aeros and the support given by Google Cloud as our provider have had a multiplying effect that allows us to provide a world-class service with a unique competitive advantage in the international market."

Driving the future of mobility

Deploying Google Cloud solutions took around four months, and during that period, projects and databases were created for each environment of the MAGIIS platform. The necessary logic for applications to log and execute operations in real time was also developed.

While the company had already been using Google Maps Platform, with the support of aeros, it added various APIs, such as Directions API, Google Geocoding API, Maps JavaScript API, Places API, and Routes API, which helped secure accurate information on distance, cost, and arrival times of trips requested through the application.

Implementing these services in the frontend and backend means that users can turn to either web or mobile versions of the application.

By adopting Firebase Realtime Database, the company helped customers secure real-time data about trip and driver status, improving cost projection and decision-making for transport providers.

A technological investment pushing growth

Thanks to Google Cloud’s easy-to-deploy, cost-effective, and highly innovative services, MAGIIS can provide customers with first-class online asset tracking, passenger geolocation, and region zoning.

For the company, this translated into huge benefits. Since the solutions were deployed in the cloud, the company has launched four new features a month and multiplied turnover by 500%. Productivity has also increased by 25%, with application development and availability times reducing by 35%.

Furthermore, providers who trust MAGIIS to deliver their passenger transport services have secured some benefits from having the platform on Google Cloud: They have been able to reduce spending by 30%, expand their team of drivers by 10%, and increase sales by 20%.

"We took a gigantic digital leap in an industry that runs on obsolete processes and technology, and this is a crucial benefit for all our customers. Google Cloud has everything you need to develop highly competitive products: technological innovation, world-class support, and ease of adoption."

Next stop: AI and microservices

MAGIIS’s vision for the future is for mobility to be electrical, autonomous, customized, and connected. That is why the next move is to develop a platform based on microservices and AI that makes the most of Google Cloud innovations.

First, they will focus on software as microservices with the aim of migrating their current operations to Cloud Run and Google Kubernetes Engine. This will allow them to delegate infrastructure management to Google Cloud and fully focus on the product.

They then intend to decentralize their databases using AlloyDB and BigQuery to streamline transactions and data analysis, respectively, and take their dashboards to Looker Embedded for more agile and accurate report visualization. All these efforts have one goal in mind: Becoming the go-to platform in Latin America and the United States.

In addition, MAGIIS is currently involved in the Google for Startups program, receiving technical support and credits to take their cloud infrastructure a step further and make better use of their product and team resources.

"As the transport industry heads to a post-digital model, MAGIIS offers customizable and pay-per-use solutions that boost productivity, speed up operations, and offer constant availability to customers."
