Automated management to focus on business

Envíame is a company providing technology to automate logistics and distribution processes for ecommerce organizations, as well as to streamline integration with several Latin American courier companies.

Founded in Santiago de Chile and operating in Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Argentina, Envíame now has approximately 180 remote employees working from 11 countries.

In a market that requires ongoing innovation and scalable technologies to meet seasonal peaks, Envíame stands out for being a last-mile strategic ally of ecommerce organizations in the region, offering an IT platform with industry-required scalability, unification, and automation levels.

Delegate management to boost development

Envíame's goal was clear: to develop the features its customers needed to enhance their ecommerce platforms. To this end, the company decided to minimize infrastructure and server management efforts, as well as to streamline its processes.

As a cloud-native startup, Envíame decided to deploy cloud solutions from the very beginning, leveraging business applications based on Google Cloud. This experience made it easier for the company to upgrade its IT infrastructure.

The company's participation in a credit program also contributed to this process by helping Envíame further explore and test Google Cloud technologies. The result was a scalable architecture based on the microservices needed to leverage their full potential.

"Our plan was for no employee to have to manage the infrastructure. As we focus on developing features to meet customer needs, we decided to pass management tasks on to a cloud provider."

Relying on technology to grow independently

Thanks to the supporting documentation, labs, and credits provided by Google Cloud, Envíame has incorporated new technologies to strengthen its cloud-based management and development processes and to help the company grow.

Initially, the startup implemented Compute Engine, a VM-based, secure compute service, so that the team could optimize infrastructure management. Later, faced with server management challenges, the organization began to consider other solutions.

That is how it decided to adopt Google Cloud's App Engine and Cloud Functions, which enabled the team to design an architecture based on asynchronous microservices, including data repositories, requiring little infrastructure management effort.

"Thanks to the documentation, use cases, and labs provided by Google Cloud, we managed to solve our IT development needs in a far simpler way. The Google Cloud team has also always been there to support and help us."

Apps to enable always-on business operations

The scalability, flexibility, and agility of Google Cloud's solutions were hugely beneficial for the company in two ways. Firstly, Envíame managed to consolidate its IT team to focus on product and service development, rather than on infrastructure operation and management. And, secondly, the company could rapidly adapt to the sudden growth in service demand.

This positively impacted the stability of its platform, both in terms of infrastructure and services, which led to +99% uptime in its APIs and web platform, following a full CI/CD structure with 5-10 daily go-lives.

In addition, the capabilities provided by Google Cloud's native ecosystem helped the organization deploy a continuous integration structure, with no app downtime for its customers and end users.

"This is a story of innovation and collaboration. Thanks to Google Cloud, we've transformed our approach and how we operate so that we can offer services focused on growth and streamline our solution implementation. This frees us from the burden of managing infrastructure to concentrate on what we love: developing products and services."

Taking development one step further

The Google Cloud technology adopted by Envíame has been essential to continue developing new features that improve customer experience. And this has led the company to start exploring new tools to take this journey further.

Today, the startup is considering solutions based on machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve the delivery of features to the market and its customers, predict issues related to deliveries or online purchases; and automate customer service processes.
