Achieves agility and scalability to sustain ongoing business growth

Greater competition, dynamic markets and increasing customer expectations are pressuring organizations to wring every last drop of efficiency from their people and systems. In this environment, business process management has become an increasingly important discipline.

The growth of technologies that automate and streamline these processes has opened up new opportunities for organizations and the partner that support them. One such organization is Mynd Integrated Solutions Pvt Ltd (MYND), India-headquartered provides technology-enabled business solutions and services.

In 2002, visionary entrepreneurs Sundeep Mohindru and Vivek Misra laid the foundation for MYND, a business process outsourcing (BPO) solution provider. The duo was later joined by Saurav Wadhwa in 2004, who strengthened the company’s finance and accounts outsourcing. "Our vision is to be the partner of choice for organizations, delivering value with innovative solutions, technologies and human intelligence. With Google Cloud, we can realize this vision by delivering cutting-edge business process management solutions that elevate our customers' performance and efficiency," says Saurav Wadhwa, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at MYND. The organization's relentless pursuit of excellence is evident in its creation of specialized service delivery models tailored to diverse client needs, consistently setting new benchmarks for the industry.

Experiencing rapid growth on cloud

Today, MYND stands as a powerhouse with a team of over 1800 professionals who have played a pivotal role in propelling the company forward. "Fueled by industry-leading technology, MYND has seamlessly transitioned its business from being a Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) to a Software as a Service (SaaS), ultimately evolving into a knowledge management company." explains Saurav Wadhwa, CEO at MYND. The business operates with five offices in India and one in Singapore, and services more than 500 customers in varied locations including South Africa and the Middle East.

The company's expansion prompted it to review the third-party cloud data center it was using. "Working with state of the art technology is extremely important, as that is the backbone of our business. We wanted more flexibility in managing and utilizing infrastructure, greater transparency in the infrastructure bills we incurred, and to clearly segregate and assign costs to individual projects and products," explains Saurabh Ganeriwala, Chief Business Officer at MYND. "For example, in our existing environment, we needed to provide three weeks' notice to provision a new server, and one month's notice to shut a server down. With improved flexibility and transparency we could operate more efficiently and build customer confidence in our services."

In December 2021, MYND began an evaluation process that encompassed its incumbent and other multinational cloud providers, including Google Cloud. The business engaged Google Cloud partner, Searce , to help with evaluation, including asset analysis, design, architecture development and preparing pricing proposals.

MYND eventually selected Google Cloud in October 2022 for its scalability, ease of aligning resources and services to demand, and simple billing process, which made assigning costs to projects and products particularly seamless. What MYND liked about Google Cloud, too, was their expertise in AI and machine learning, as well as the ease and agility with which MYND could experiment with new technologies.

Securing key systems and sensitive data was another key priority for MYND, with Google Cloud providing a range of tools to fulfil this requirement. "There's a need to compliment the team from Google Cloud, as they were the key driver behind this entire engagement," says Ganeriwala. "They answered all our questions about the platform, products and services and helped us develop an architecture that would meet our needs. They also worked closely on the negotiation and solutioning stage with our partner."

"Given the size of our business and the fact we were a digital native pivoting to a technology-based model, they were able to empathize with us and structure a deal accordingly," he adds.

Gaining the flexibility and agility to support growth

With Google Cloud, MYND is achieving the flexibility and agility needed to sustain its fast-growing business. The business can now provision new virtual servers in 30 minutes and shut them down as needed, with the MYND team writing scripts to adapt its compute resources to reduce demand at low-demand periods.

In addition, MYND can pilot new technologies such as generative AI without committing to big investments, enabling the business to innovate faster and more effectively. It is also using AI-powered optical character recognition through Vision AI to extract much-needed insights from its business process documents, so as to support digitalization through its proprietary AI and ML (machine learning) tools.

Security is particularly important to MYND, and the business has turned to Google Cloud Armor to protect itself from distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) and other attacks, while Identity-Aware Proxy and Identity and Access Management support a zero-trust, role-based access model to business-critical applications and infrastructure. The business leverages Security Command Center from Google Cloud to cost-effectively reduce risk, threats and vulnerabilities, while complying with more stringent personal data security legislation implemented in India. The default encryption at rest capability that Google Cloud provides also helps keep data secure and meet many compliance requirements.

"Instead of investing up to a few million dollars in our own Security Operations Center, we can access equivalent cloud-based services through Security Command Center at a considerably lower cost," explains Ganeriwala. "We can also proactively comply with obligations such as those detailed in the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, which will take effect soon in India."

These security services, and others like Cloud Key Management, help MYND score highly in customer evaluations and ultimately clinch new business opportunities.

Extending disaster recovery across the entire environment

Improving its ability to recover from flood, fire or other disasters was another priority for MYND. With Google Cloud, MYND has extended disaster recovery (DR) from key production systems to its entire cloud environment, including development and production. The business has also established a recovery time objective of just two hours to minimize any disruption to operations or customer-facing services.

With a well-established Google Cloud environment, MYND is piloting analytics with Google Cloud, as it prepares for rapid growth in 2024 and beyond. "Google Cloud is key to driving this speed, because if the business grows at the pace we expect, we need robust technology support at the backend," explains Nishikant Rai, Chief Finance Officer at MYND. "Google Cloud added several attributes including flexibility in resource usage, effective cost control, allocation and monitoring capabilities, and enhanced visibility of the costs at the product level. The factors collectively contribute to more efficient resource management and financial oversight."
