Inspired by a motto that "every business is unique," Indonesia's RUN System is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform on a mission to democratize the world of digital transformation and systems integration. Delivering a comprehensive ecosystem of solutions, easily configured by clients themselves, RUN System is able to offer a cost-efficient alternative to global incumbents.
Founded by entrepreneur Sony Rachmadi, RUN System prides itself on driving social impact across the massive archipelago nation, connecting Indonesia's 17,000+ islands through digital transformation. In particular, it partners with state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to bring digital empowerment to villages in the farthest reaches of the country.
RUN System believes in end-to-end solutions across the enterprise value chain, including fostering talent from the earliest stages. Its eCampuz platform therefore manages the educational journey of 3.3 million students on course to join Indonesia's vibrant workforce, testament to the firm's social ecosystem vision.
After years on a hybrid on-premise and cloud architecture with one of the major cloud providers, RUN System decided to embark upon a comprehensive Google Cloud migration, seeing the need for greater agility and scalability. It was attracted by the big data analytics capabilities of BigQuery alongside the nimble, auto-scaling computing power of Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), which Rachmadi saw as providing "unrivaled availability with zero downtime."
In the first stage of migration, RUN System moved systems to an architecture built on Google Compute Engine virtual machines (VMs) and Cloud SQL as a fully-managed relational database, putting BigQuery and GKE through a proof-of-concept (POC) process. Already, Rachmadi says the enhanced agility and ease of provisioning has benefited RUN System as it expects to grow rapidly, while deploying the full range of Google Cloud solutions.
Embracing Google Cloud, RUN System has also been tapped to be an official Google Cloud partner, only the third Indonesian startup to become one. As such, it is driving new business value by listing on Google Cloud Marketplace, resulting in powerful collaborations with both public and private sector Indonesian businesses, as well as giving the firm instant global reach.

Telkom Group Indonesia is one of the SOEs with which RUN System has forged a strategic partnership for empowering Indonesia's far-flung regions. The mission begins with empowering the telco's own workforce. Since migrating to Google Cloud, RUN System has onboarded 16,000 employees of Telkom Group Indonesia's property subsidiary, Telkom Property, onto its productivity and collaboration platform with zero downtime.
Since migration, RUN System has also experienced a major boost to infrastructure provisioning times, driving operational efficiencies that free up the DevOps team to focus on creative application tasks. Compared to its previous public cloud, RUN System has achieved a roughly 75% gain in the time required for provisioning VMs on Compute Engine.

"The ease of provisioning is liberating our team to focus on co-creating the future of Indonesian development with numerous SOE partners."
RUN System now expects even more advantages in seamless autoscaling computing power as it finishes its GKE POC and moves to full microservices adoption. Completing its POC for BigQuery, it is also expecting to harness the advantages of what it views as the "unrivaled big data analytics capabilities" of the autoscaling data warehouse.
"With our previous provider, we needed to use multiple solutions, including from external vendors, to operate their data warehouse for data analytics," says Budi Santoso, Chief of Product at RUN System. "Now with BigQuery we're getting much more dynamic machine-learning driven data processing, in a one-stop shop. Moreover, we can use Looker Studio to present our BigQuery outcomes to the management or to our clients in a highly intuitive experience."

RUN System worked with partner Searce to optimize its business and strategic aims to make the most of the Marketplace environment. "Searce has been instrumental in helping us make the most of our Marketplace experience, helping us prioritize products to sell, and how to place them to be noticed better," says Santoso. "They helped us understand the business environment to enable us to market our products better."
Listing on Google Cloud Marketplace has opened up creative partnerships, including with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat), one of Indonesia's largest telecom providers. Together the two firms that share a strong social mission are first driving an HR and payroll project that significantly streamlines Indosat's operations.
Through Marketplace, RUN System has enjoyed enhanced credibility thanks to a Google Cloud stamp of approval, an advantage deepened by being a Google Cloud partner.
Being part of Marketplace also helps RUN System customers by simplifying the deployment and provisioning process, enabling them to deploy to the Google Cloud environment with just a few clicks.
"Google Cloud has the best reputation among cloud providers in Indonesia, so listing on Marketplace and being a Google Cloud partner brings us a strong competitive advantage," says Prawiradinata. "In addition, Marketplace is supported by their vast existing network of partners, which may be sales partners, or application partners. That was very appealing to us, because it means we can approach clients to upsell our products within our ecosystem."
He adds that Marketplace significantly enables RUN System's international expansion plans, thanks to being a curated app store for certified solutions built on Google Cloud. "Being on the Google Cloud Marketplace boosts us in terms of global reach," says Prawiradinata. "We don't require physical assets in the United States or Europe to expand to these markets. In fact, we already have upcoming potential partnerships in these regions."
Charting new paths of ERP empowerment through Google Cloud AI solutions
Once BigQuery deployment moves beyond the POC stage, RUN System intends to begin leveraging the vast amounts of data from client ERP processes to enable individualized business intelligence reports on everything from inventory to logistical optimization.
As such, RUN System is working on a low-code application platform that will enable clients to create their own business intelligence applications, so they can harness the power of their data without external assistance, further democratizing technology.
The firm envisages integrating the proprietary low-code application platform with Vertex AI and Google Cloud Large Language Models to drive a more intuitive experience, enabling clients to simply request a financial report in natural language, and seeing it materialize in real-time.
