Activate Migration Center

The first time you access Google Cloud Migration Center from the Google Cloud console, you might need to activate it by using the steps outlined in this document. However, if you want to generate a rapid, offline cost estimate, you can do this directly from the Estimate cost page without activating Migration Center. For more information, see Start a cost estimation.

Also, if you have a Google-provided ID, you can add it during activation. Otherwise, you can update it in the settings later.

Before you begin

  1. Sign into Google Cloud console with your Gmail account or other Google account.

    You can also register your corporate email address as a Google account.

    If you are new to Google Cloud and you are signing in for the first time, your trial period is activated as soon as you sign in. The trial remains active for 90 days, subject to the terms and conditions. A Google Cloud customer engineer is also notified when you start your trial.

  2. Select or create a new project.

  3. Review the roles and permissions required to activate Migration Center.

Activate Migration Center

  1. In the Google Cloud console, go to the Migration Center page.

  2. If prompted, to enable the required APIs for Migration Center, click Enable APIs.

  3. From the Region list, select the region where you want Migration Center to store the information about your assets.

  4. If you already have a Google-provided ID, select I have a Google-provided ID. Then, in the Your Google-provided ID field that appears, enter the ID.

  5. Click Continue.

Update your Google-provided ID

To update your Google-provided ID after activating Migration Center, follow these steps:

  1. In the Google Cloud console, go to the Migration Center page.

  2. Click the settings icon .

  3. Select I have a Google-provided ID.

  4. In the Your Google-provided ID field that appears, enter the Google-provided ID.

  5. Click Save.
