Manually create and upload data tables

If your infrastructure has only a limited number of assets, you can manually create tables of data and import them in StratoZone. This page describes how to create the tables and upload the data to StratoZone.

Available data templates

For each assessment, StratoZone allows you to upload the following types of tables:

  • Machine information. Use this template to provide information about individual assets, including CPU, memory, and other configuration parameters.
  • Performance data. Optional: use this template to provide performance data for your assets in a time-series format.
  • Disk data. Optional: use this template to provide information about disks and their utilization.
  • System tags. Optional: use this template to group assets together by assigning tags to them. StratoZone automatically creates tag groups based on the information you provide in the system tags template.

Uploading data to StratoZone

To manually create and upload tables with your infrastructure data, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the StratoZone portal.

  2. From the Assessments tab, select Create new assessment group. Assessments page in the StratoZone portal

  3. Select Manual asset entry as your assessment group type, fill in the information about group name and sponsor details, then click Save. Manual asset entry in the StratoZone portal

  4. In the Overview tab of the Assessment page, enter a name for your assessment, select Manual, then click Save & Next to continue. Manual asset entry, Overview tab

  5. In the Upload tab, download the Machine information template, edit the file with a spreadsheet editor, then click Upload to upload the file to the portal. The status of the file changes to Uploaded, Processing. Manual asset entry, Upload tab

  6. Click Refresh. If the file is processed correctly, the status changes to Uploaded, Processed.

  7. Optional: Download, edit, and upload the optional templates to provide additional information about your infrastructure.

  8. Click Save & Next to continue.

  9. In the Validate and create inventory tab, review the results for the upload, then click Add inventory to add the assets to the assessment. Manual asset entry, Validate and create inventory tab

If any of the assets show an error in the Validate and create inventory tab, you will not be able to create the assessment.

To fix the issue, correct the rows in the templates that correspond to the rows showing the error, go back to the Upload tab and upload the templates again. For more information, see Troubleshooting manual data import.
