Enable or disable Infrastructure Management Essentials

This guide describes how to enable or disable Infrastructure Management Essentials for your Google Cloud project.

Limitations

  • The availability of Infrastructure Management Essentials is subject to certain factors. For more information, see Availability.
  • You can enable and disable Infrastructure Management Essentials only by using the Google Cloud console.
  • Infrastructure Management Essentials has a minimum subscription term of 30 days, after which you can cancel your subscription to it at any time. For more information, see Billing cycle.

Required IAM roles

To get the permissions that you need to enable or disable Infrastructure Management Essentials in a Google Cloud project, ask your administrator to grant you the Billing Account Administrator (roles/billing.admin) IAM role on the corresponding Cloud Billing Account. For more information about granting roles, see Manage access to projects, folders, and organizations.

You might also be able to get the required permissions through custom roles or other predefined roles.

Enable the Infrastructure Management Essentials

To enable Infrastructure Management Essentials for your Google Cloud project, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Google Cloud console, go to the Compute Engine Overview page.

    Go to Overview

  2. Under Cost and optimization, in the card titled Boost efficiency and savings with Infrastructure Management Essentials, click Learn more.

  3. Review the information, and then click Enable.

Upon enablement, you see the following:

  • Confirmation text: Enabled Infrastructure Management Essentials.
  • Status information Status: Active since DATE_TIME_OF_ENABLING.

Verify billing for Infrastructure Management Essentials

When Infrastructure Management Essentials is active for your Google Cloud project, you won't see individual usage or billing data for the services included in it. Instead, you see the Infrastructure Management Essentials SKU on your bill, which covers your usage of the included services.

Disable the Infrastructure Management Essentials

To disable Infrastructure Management Essentials for your Google Cloud project, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Google Cloud console, go to the Compute Engine Overview page.

  2. Under Cost and optimization, in the card titled Boost efficiency and savings with Infrastructure Management Essentials, click Learn more.

  3. Click Cancel subscription > Confirm cancellation.
