Business intelligence at Google scale
Go from data to insight to wisdom with a Google Cloud BI solution — a comprehensive suite of data analytics tools from Google and our technology partners that provides flexibility, scalability, collaboration, and advanced analytics, built-in. Not only are your BI workloads backed by the power and scale of BigQuery, they’re accelerated by BigQuery BI Engine, an in-memory analysis service for fast, interactive visual analytics.
Realize modern BI with choice and flexibility
Ensure your BI solution meets everyone where they are and grows with them. The Google Cloud BI solution’s tight integrations between BigQuery, Google Data Studio, and Sheets, and partnerships with familiar BI and ETL vendors translates to choice and flexibility. Use Google or partner tools to ingest any type of data for analysis, then choose how you derive insights. Perform simple calculations in Sheets, visual analytics in Data Studio or a partner tool, or run a complex SQL query in the BigQuery UI. Finally, consumption-based or flat-rate pricing flexibility in BigQuery combined with Data Studio’s no-charge licensing translates to real savings.
Visualize and explore data, your way
Turn your data into compelling visuals with out-of-the-box, community-built, or your own custom visualizations. Once ready for distribution, drop them into your dashboards, reports, or data stories and get blazing fast insights when they’re connected to both BigQuery, Google’s MPP analytics data warehouse, and to BigQuery BI Engine, an in-memory analysis service with sub-second query response, high concurrency, and smart performance tuning.
Create a collaborative, data-driven culture
Activate data insights at all levels in your business to foster a highly collaborative culture of data-driven decision making. With the Sheets and Data Studio sharing model, teams can instantly start collaborating in real time, over big data. Interactive data stories that inspire action are a breeze to create and publish by anyone. Besides embedding dashboards and reports into internal apps or websites, developers can securely embed analytics into their customer-facing apps.
Empower your team with predictive analytics
Empower analysts fluent in SQL to seamlessly transition from descriptive to predictive analytics. Using Cloud Dataprep, you can visually prepare your data for ML projects. With BigQuery ML, you can use familiar SQL to build and train machine learning models over large datasets in BigQuery without needing to move it. Further empowering those with SQL fluency, BigQuery GIS provides support for geospatial data types and functions within BigQuery. You can now analyze and operate on any data with spatial attributes and easily visualize results on a map.
Google Cloud BI solution architecture
BigQuery BI Engine (beta)
BigQuery BI Engine is a blazing-fast, in-memory analysis service for BigQuery that allows users to analyze large and complex datasets interactively with sub-second query response time and with high concurrency. BigQuery BI Engine seamlessly integrates with familiar tools like Data Studio, Looker,* and Sheets* to accelerate data exploration and analysis.
- Enable real-time dashboarding over streaming or static data with sub-second query response and with high concurrency
- Simplify BI architecture and accelerate time to insight by reducing additional ETL or BI server management
- Optimize visual analytics over big datasets with automatic performance tuning and capacity flexibility
*Partner BI and Google Sheets product integrations are forthcoming.
Google Data Studio is a fully managed visual analytics service that can help anyone in your organization unlock insights from data through easy-to-create and interactive dashboards that inspire smarter business decision-making. When Data Studio is combined with BigQuery BI Engine, an in-memory analysis service, data exploration and visual interactivity reach sub-second speeds, over massive datasets.
- Build effective dashboards and analyses with drag-and-ease using a flexible reporting canvas and hundreds of pre-built or custom data connectors and visualizations
- Inspire and engage users with fast visual interactivity, real-time dashboard collaboration and deep integrations across the Google ecosystem
- Scale both self-serve or centralized BI workloads across the org on Google’s serverless and secure platform without unnecessary IT provisioning or administration
Sheets with BigQuery: connected sheets
The connected sheet is a new feature of Sheets that activates only when using the Sheets data connector for BigQuery, allowing you to access, analyze, visualize, and collaborate on up to 10 billion rows of BigQuery data — no SQL scripts needed. Sheets end users can surface insights without needing the help of BigQuery experts or analysts fluent in SQL, saving time for everyone. Sheets users can then make sense of that data with spreadsheet formulas or perform deeper analysis with features like Explore, pivot tables, and charts. It’s that easy.
- Unlock insights by empowering anyone in the organization to easily connect to, view, and understand big data, without requiring SQL
- Use the familiarity and speed of a spreadsheet interface for self-serve exploration, pivoting, filtering, charting, and formula-based analysis of big data
- Boost data-driven decision-making and collaboration across the organization while controlling permissions to limit who can view, edit, or share data
AirAsia is highly data-driven and agile, which among other things means everyone needs to be able to answer and respond to questions fast – no matter how big the question is or how big the data is. Using BigQuery BI Engine and Data Studio our users and analysts are able to drill down, filter, and explore data at a faster pace. Plus, since the data never leaves BigQuery they can share their dashboards and reports broadly without worrying about performance or security.–Nikunj Shanti, Chief Product Officer, AirAsia
