  • Reduced the time spent on model selection and training by three months

  • Completed the entire process from project initiation to launch in just three weeks

  • Saved at least $500,000 in server costs for computational processing

VideoShow uses Google Cloud’s generative AI to enhance video creation and provide emotionally nuanced AI conversation support.

VideoShow, founded in 2021, specializes in mobile video products, with its mobile video editor boasting nearly 400 million users worldwide. Since 2022, the company has focused on incorporating AI technology extensively into product design and has developed AI-centric products. Looking ahead, VideoShow aims to integrate AI technology across its product design in areas such as AI-GPT, AI-Audio, AI-Image, AI-Video, AI-Avatar, and AI-Game, among others.

"Continued product development and delivering powerful features are our core strengths. VideoShow has earned recognition from paying users by offering more features than similar products on the market," says Chenxu Lu, Senior Product Manager at VideoShow. "However, in the field of video editing, professional features often mean a higher learning threshold and more complex operations for users. We want to integrate more AI capabilities into the software to replace traditional, complex manual editing, helping beginners overcome the initial hurdles. Such capabilities as one-click creation, one-click editing, and one-click generation will make video creation enjoyable for users."

Since the second half of 2023, VideoShow has developed a deep partnership with Google Cloud, exploring the integration of generative AI technology into its products to offer users richer creative possibilities. This successful collaboration with Google Cloud has enabled VideoShow to achieve its anticipated goals.

Project initiation to launch completed in just three weeks

When integrating generative AI into its products, VideoShow realized that achieving high-quality output would require a significant increase in model complexity. In-house training and deployment would demand considerable time and labor, with no guarantee of the desired results. Facing fierce competition in the mobile app market, VideoShow urgently needed a mature, stable, and high-quality cloud service provider to deliver effective generative AI solutions for its creative needs.

Google Cloud's extensive AI products and multimodal models have paved a smoother path for AI innovation at VideoShow. After thorough evaluation and comparison, VideoShow found that Google Cloud's AI solutions outperformed other cloud providers by 20% in processing speed.

Thanks to Google Cloud’s AI capabilities, we saved at least three months on model selection and training, and over $500,000 in server costs.

Additionally, its multimodal support for text, image, and audio enabled VideoShow to quickly build new AI-powered features across its video editing, language assistant, and other products. "Thanks to Google Cloud's AI capabilities, we saved at least three months on model selection and training, and over $500,000 in server costs," said Chenxu Lu. The AI Chat language assistant took less than three weeks from concept to launch, and the integration of AI into our video editing tools was also significantly faster. With these models, our product development team can focus more on creative ideas and design even more innovative features for our users."

Offering users new creative experiences with multimodal models

Imagen 3 on Vertex AI generates fitting images based on simple prompts from users, while VideoShow’s proprietary algorithms enable the transformation of multi-frame images into short videos, which empower users to create imaginative video content.

By introducing Google Cloud's Gemini multimodal model into the VideoShow video editing tool, VideoShow has provided users with powerful text-to-story and text-to-video generation features, so that the video editing tool could not only help users with video editing but also bring them the pleasure of being a screenwriter and director. "With Gemini 1.5 Flash, users can quickly generate creative text to craft engaging story scripts," said Chenxu Lu. "Imagen 3 on Vertex AI generates fitting images based on simple prompts from users, while VideoShow's proprietary algorithms enable the transformation of multi-frame images into short videos, which empower users to create imaginative video content."

In addition to its highly acclaimed video editing tool, VideoShow has also integrated Gemini 1.5 Flash, Natural Language AI, and Text-to-Speech AI into its AI Chat language assistant, enabling natural language-based intelligent conversations. This provides users with the experience of accurate, high-quality, and emotionally nuanced dialogues.

Moreover, to better support content creators worldwide who use different languages, VideoShow has integrated the Translation API into its products. By automatically identifying languages, this feature helps multilingual users accurately translate prompts into English, allowing them to get more desired results from the model.

Maintain user experience based on responsible AI principles to earn users' trust

VideoShow, a free video editing software, is frequently used by its users to share the content they create on various social media or short video platforms. One of the key challenges for the VideoShow team is to create a healthy and clean video-sharing environment for users of all age groups.

When choosing Google Cloud's generative AI solutions, VideoShow particularly valued the business benefits of Google's responsible AI principles. Unlike some open-source models and solutions, Google Cloud's generative AI products and models already integrate ethical analysis and risk assessment capabilities, helping to prevent the generation of inappropriate content. This enables VideoShow to incorporate responsible principles into its application development from the outset.

By integrating Google’s responsible AI principles with our own enhanced detection and review mechanisms, we are not only able to create a healthy environment for users, but also make our products recognized and trusted by global users.

Building on Google Cloud's responsible AI principles, VideoShow has taken further steps to ensure that AI-generated content does not contain sensitive or inappropriate material that could discomfort other social media users. It has integrated Cloud Vision API, using AI-based computer vision capabilities for content review, enabling fast, automated review of videos, images, and other content. "Building content detection and review on Vertex AI Vision is very convenient. We simply push media streams to the API on Google Cloud, and content such as violence or adult material that could potentially upset other users will be identified, which ensures VideoShow's AI-generated content, combined with user creativity, remains appropriate," said Chenxu Lu. "By integrating Google's responsible AI principles with our own enhanced detection and review mechanisms, we are not only able to create a healthy environment for users, but also make our products recognized and trusted by global users."

Partnering with Google Cloud to achieve sustainable growth on the AI journey

Over the past year, VideoShow has built a strong partnership with Google Cloud, with both engineering teams working closely on model optimization, performance tuning, content safety, and other areas. Google Cloud responded to issues and challenges during development in a timely, professional, and efficient manner. "What impressed us most was the high level of expertise and responsibility demonstrated by Google Cloud. With their reliable support, we can operate our business with greater confidence, focus on meeting user needs, and achieve better ROI in generative AI," said Chenxu Lu.

In the future, VideoShow will continue to lead the trend of mobile video and image creation, providing global users with outstanding mobile video and image applications while further integrating AI language assistant services. We will maintain close collaboration with Google Cloud to continuously expand AI applications, offering innovative features such as video filters, voice replication, and converting images into videos. These features will inspire user creativity, allowing users worldwide to freely create and fully enjoy the fun of video production in the AI world.

VIDEOSHOW PTE. LTD. is an app development company that has launched a suite of image and video editing tools for social media users, including VideoShow, Filmigo, V Recorder, MagiCut, and Retouch. These apps have been globally recommended by Google and Apple multiple times, with Filmigo recognized as the Best Entertainment App of the Year. The company is also building an AI ecosystem, offering AI-driven products for broader applications, such as AIChat and Quickart.

Currently, these applications have a global user base of over 1.1 billion, with the majority being content creators.
