European Union’s Digital Markets Act

The Digital Markets Act (DMA) is a European Union (EU) law designed to ensure fair and open digital markets. It takes effect on March 6, 2024 and applies in all EU member states, their overseas territories, and the European Economic Area (EEA). The law applies to companies that have met the criteria of the European Commission (EC) to be designated “gatekeepers”. Alphabet has undertakings that have been designated as gatekeepers by the EC.
