Are you a Google Cloud customer looking to exit Google Cloud? If so, you are eligible for free data transfer when you migrate all of your workloads and data from the relevant Google Cloud service to another cloud provider or an on-premises data center.
Complete the following steps in order to benefit from free data transfers before your Google Cloud agreement terminates:
This process is subject to the following terms and conditions:
All customers are eligible for this program as long as they follow the steps outlined above. I.e. customers are eligible as long as they submit an Exit Notice; initiate their migration within the Initiation Period (and give their assigned support agent at least two working days before doing so); inform Google, after the end of the Migration Period (and within 180 days of its end date), when they’ve completed the migration of all their production data out of the Google Cloud service they’re leaving; and intend to terminate their Google Cloud contract for that service. For customers seeking to migrate only a portion of their data from a Google Cloud service, without ending all use of that service, see “What if I want to move only a portion of my data?” below.
Exiting Google Cloud means ending all usage of the Google Cloud service you are leaving. In most circumstances this means moving all workloads and/or production data from Google Cloud to another cloud provider or to on-premises.
When you submit this form, you’ll be asked whether you have an assigned Google Cloud account team. If you indicate “yes”, you won’t need to tell them about your migration - we’ll inform them for you. All you’ll need to do is: initiate your migration within the Initiation Period defined in Step 4 above (and notify your assigned support agent at least two working days before you do so); move all your workloads and production data during the Migration Period defined in Step 5 above; and inform Google, after the end of the Migration Period (and within 180 days of its end date), when you’ve completed your migration by submitting a Completion Notice as described in Step 6 above. Your agreement will then be considered terminated, in relation to the Google Cloud services you’re leaving, at the first calendar month end to occur at least 30 days after submission of your Completion Notice. For details, see these process steps.

Use of the Google Cloud free data transfer program does not prevent you from returning to Google Cloud in the future. Note that we may review any repeated requests to participate in the program to ensure they are legitimate and meet the terms and conditions set out above.
The free data transfer program requires a customer to end all use of the Google Cloud service they’re migrating from (while allowing the customer to continue using other Google Cloud services): customers are not permitted to migrate only a portion of a given Google Cloud service under the program.
European customers may also be eligible for Google’s separate Data Transfer Essentials offering, depending on the purpose of any partial move they are considering. The Data Transfer Essentials offering is designed to facilitate European customers’ use of certain Google Cloud services alongside services procured by them from other cloud providers. For details of the Data Transfer Essentials offering, please see https://cloud.google.com/data-transfer-essentials/docs/overview.
Please see here for the list of Google Cloud services eligible for the free data transfer program.
An authorized customer representative should review the program specifics detailed on this page and, if acceptable, submit an Exit Notice for the relevant Google Cloud service(s). To ensure eligibility under the program, the customer must submit an Exit Notice prior to any data migration for which they expect a credit. Then, once the customer has submitted their Exit Notice and 14 days have expired, the customer must initiate the transfer of their data out of the relevant Google Cloud service(s) within 30 days (the “Initiation Period”) and notify their assigned support agent at least two working days before doing so. After the Initiation Period, the customer has a further period of 30 days or longer (the “Migration Period”) to complete the migration of their workloads and production data and must notify Google, after the end of the Migration Period (and within 180 days of its end date), when they have completed their migration. For details, see these process steps.
The data transfer process must be initiated via submission of this form before termination of any contract. Then, after the customer has completed their migration and notified Google of completion by submitting this form, the customer’s Google Cloud contract will automatically terminate in relation to the services they’ve migrated from, and their transfer credits will be reflected on Google’s final invoice for those services.
No, data transfer credits under this free data transfer program are only for customers who are leaving Google Cloud or the relevant Google Cloud service. However, European customers may be eligible for Google’s separate Data Transfer Essentials offering, which is designed to facilitate ongoing use of Google Cloud services in parallel with the services of other cloud providers. For details, see https://cloud.google.com/data-transfer-essentials/docs/overview.
You need to start your migration during the Initiation Period (i.e. the 30-day period beginning on the 15th day after you submit your Exit Notice). You can then continue your migration during the Migration Period (i.e. the minimum 30-day period following the Initiation Period). Note: if Google notifies you that Google believes a longer Migration Period is required for technical reasons, your Migration Period will be the longer period specified in Google’s notice, and if you require a longer Migration Period for any reason, you may request a single extension of that period by notifying your assigned support agent within your current Migration Period. Also note: If you continue migrating any workloads or production data after the Migration Period, data transfer credits will not be available for those transfers and, depending on your billing address, those transfers may be prohibited by your contract.
After the end of your Migration Period, you may perform ancillary activities related to migration (e.g., turning down services, retrieving data, etc.) but please make sure you have fully completed your migration before you submit your Completion Notice, because submission of that notice will trigger automatic termination of your Google Cloud agreement in relation to the Google Cloud service you’re leaving.
An invoice level credit adjustment will be automatically applied to your final invoice for the Google Cloud services you’re leaving.
