Innovation is at the heart of Techno India University (TIU), an organization always seeking new ways to provide more than 100,000 students with access to cutting-edge technology while keeping an alumni network of over one million members engaged and connected. To meet these ambitious goals, TIU adopted Digital Campus 2.0 on Google Cloud, a program that offers a comprehensive suite of cloud-based tools designed to transform education, equip students with future-ready skills, and unlock new opportunities for learning and growth.
Through this program, TIU has integrated Google Classroom and Google Workspace for Education, transforming real-time collaboration between students and faculty. "Google Docs and Google Drive provide a comfortable ecosystem where a class can start with attendance, move to note-taking, progress to presentations, and conclude with assessments using Google Forms or Google Classroom, with results evaluated in seconds," says Abhrajit Saha.
The development of custom applications with AppSheet allowed the university to automate roll call and attendance tracking, refocusing the saved admin time toward educational activities. Google Cloud Storage provided scalable and secure data storage, while Google AI brought advanced analytics and machine learning into the curriculum.
"Google tools have allowed our students to not just present their findings using Google Slides but also build functional prototypes and automation products with AppSheet," adds Saha. "This has made learning more practical and hands-on, transforming our administrative processes and the student learning experience."
As part of the Digital Campus on Google Cloud, the university successfully onboarded 15,000 students to the Google ecosystem in a record time of just 20 days. Close collaboration and support from CloudReign Technologies engineers ensured the smooth implementation of the solutions. With Google Workspace, including Gmail, students gained access to necessary certifications and opportunities previously unavailable due to the lack of institutional email IDs.
Developing cloud-ready talent
As part of the Digital Campus 2.0 on Google Cloud program, Techno India University (TIU) offers students access to specialized training and certifications, equipping them with skills to meet the demands of the cloud-first job market.
Through programs like the Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer, students gain fundamental skills in deploying, monitoring, and maintaining projects on Google Cloud. Upon passing the Associate Cloud Engineer exam, students are invited to participate in the Google Cloud Career Fair, connecting them with potential employers. These certifications validate their cloud skills and open doors to new career opportunities in the tech industry.
Empowering students to engineer real-world solutions
The comprehensive suite of tools provided by Digital Campus 2.0 on Google Cloud has opened new and inventive pathways for Techno India University students to tackle societal challenges. A prime example is the Techno Billion AI platform, developed by 10 computer science students using Google Cloud services in just 30 days. This platform delivers AI-powered tools and services to underserved communities, addressing critical issues in agriculture and healthcare.
The Techno Billion AI project is led by a chief engineer and a university director, aiming to provide AI tools and services to the "bottom billion" in India, those who may not have easy access to technology and information to improve their farming practices and livelihoods.

"Our students have been using the Gemini large language model, the entire Google Cloud backend, and various applications from security to workflow automation," says Abhrajit Saha. "This has resulted in the birth of a digital product made by the students, for the students and the community."
The platform aims to empower individuals and small businesses by providing access to AI-powered solutions in their native languages. This includes incorporating AI avatars in local Indian languages to make the platform more accessible and user-friendly for the target rural audience. The goal is to create micro-entrepreneurship opportunities and improve livelihoods.

Bolstered by its partnership with Google, Techno India University (TIU) is developing the "School of the Future" campus in Kolkata. This 100-acre residential campus, just outside the city, offers specialized degree programs in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cloud Computing, focusing on practical, industry-relevant skills.
“The collaboration with Google has already enabled the enrollment of 500 new students in these programs. The new campus, featuring state-of-the-art facilities including a 1,000-seat auditorium and residential accommodations for 2,000 students, aims to expand enrollment to 2,000 students,” says RoyChowdhury.
TIU is also expanding into North India and discussing the creation of a "Google Education Campus," which would be the first Google-branded education campus in India, offering students full access to Google's technology and expertise through the Digital Campus 2.0 program. The implementation of this co-op education model with Google will allow students to work on live projects, helping to close the gap between academia and industry, a core aspiration of TIU.
