As a global leader in the competitive ad tech and content discovery space, Taboola helps publishers and advertisers deliver relevant, personalized content to users across thousands of digital properties. With increasing demand for faster insights and smarter targeting, Taboola sought to eliminate friction in daily operations and empower teams to work more independently and securely.

As the company scaled, traditional workflows like invoice approvals or searching for customer insights became slower and more manual, requiring back-and-forth communication with IT or analysts. This impacted decision-making and delayed execution, especially across distributed teams.

Taboola had long relied on Google Workspace, but the adoption of Gemini, NotebookLM, and now Gemini Enterprise marked a shift from general productivity tools to company-wide AI enablement.

Gemini enhanced daily tasks like email searches and meeting summaries, reducing dependency on disconnected file systems. NotebookLM added a collaborative, no-code layer to knowledge sharing. Analysts could preload curated information into shared notebooks, enabling teams to explore data and make decisions without delays.

Taboola also piloted Gemini Enterprise to accelerate workflows across sales, support, and finance. Sales reps now run one-click agents to pull insights from systems like Salesforce, while finance leads can review invoice batches with contextual vendor data.

Driving ad performance with contextual intelligence

As a context-based and native advertising platform, Taboola must understand both the environment and the content where ads appear. This demands real-time page analysis, accurate classification, and ad policy compliance at scale.

Previously, these workflows relied on manual NLP systems and multilingual pipelines, sometimes requiring translation to English, adding friction and delay. Vertex AI changed that. Its large language models now perform page-level sentiment analysis, theme identification, and entity extraction in multiple languages without translation.

Ad review workflows also saw major gains. Taboola migrated its Content Review Team to Gemini's enhanced image models, reducing moderation costs by 75%. What was once a manual, image-by-image compliance process for tens of thousands of creatives is now fully automated, streamlining policy checks and scaling enforcement.

Gemini also removed the need for third-party tools in several areas. With ad creatives and multilingual content processed natively, Taboola accelerates approvals and improves consistency across global markets.

Beyond ad content, Taboola applies Vertex AI to enrich customer support. Incoming emails are categorized and converted into tickets, allowing teams to triage and resolve requests faster and more accurately.

Taboola's culture is built around speed, agility, and innovation. But as the company scaled, traditional reliance on IT and scattered files made it hard to keep up. Employees often had to wait on analysts or search across systems to find what they needed.

The solution came through Google Cloud's AI solutions, designed to empower everyone, not just technical experts. Gemini and NotebookLM fundamentally changed how knowledge flows across the organization, giving teams on-demand access to organizational knowledge and decision-making context.

"AI is a means to doing better as a company," said Alzam. "It improves our collaboration, communication, and velocity. That's what we were trying to achieve, and Google Cloud solutions allow us to do it."

Taboola uses NotebookLM to drive cross-functional knowledge sharing. Analysts curate key sources and context, then publish interactive notebooks that allow colleagues to get answers, ask follow-up questions, and verify sources on their own, across time zones.

The company also repurposed internal FAQs and repeated questions into chatbots built with Gemini, reducing redundant queries and freeing up internal teams. Long-form training videos were turned into searchable transcripts and podcast-style recaps, making learning materials easier to access and retain.

To further democratize access, Taboola began piloting Workspace Studio, a platform where non-technical users can build their own Gemini agents. The long-term goal is a secure, scalable AI environment where every employee can interact with company data confidently and independently.
