Find out why cloud-native networks are a must for communication service providers to meet the needs of the future. Download study.
Telecom Network Automation is based on open source Nephio. It delivers simple, carrier grade, cloud-native automation. It supports the creation of new intent-driven networks.
Features
Accelerate cloud-native infrastructure configuration and network function deployments with simple intent-driven and declarative automation blueprints. Focus on the desired outcome rather than complex setup and management processes.
Seamlessly manage telecom networks from RAN to Edge to Core to Cloud with a unified Kubernetes automation framework—no need for additional legacy out-of-band automation software. Using the Kubernetes Resource Model (KRM), define structured Kubernetes Custom Resources (CRD) and leverage Operators to reconcile them on the live network simplifying deployment and Day 2 operations.
Avoid lock-in challenges or complex multi-vendor integrations by embracing openness through Nephio automation framework. The KRM Custom Resources packaging best practices and Kubernetes Operator framework are defined by the Nephio community to match the Telecom specific networking requirements and simplify interoperability.
Simplify how you apply and manage the various infrastructure and network function configurations. Configuration-as-Data (CaD) is a methodology for configuration management that rigorously enforces well-structured declarative configurations and separates those configurations from the code that operates on them. It’s simpler to understand and manipulate. The configurations are also anchored in a robust GitOps-based configuration management enabling users to author, review, and publish configuration packages.
Use readily available blueprints by Google to automate deployment and operations of Google Cloud infrastructure at scale: Google Distributed Cloud Edge (GDCE) and Google Kubernetes Engine. Google blueprints automates the GDCE networking fabric configuration, Kubernetes cluster(s) deployment, and their customization to fit the network function requirements (SR-IOV, Hugepages, and more), avoiding possible misconfigurations and rollbacks. Use our partner artifacts/blueprints or systems to deploy, operate, and configure network functions.
How It Works
Telecom Network Automation offers a cloud-based control plane that automates the deployment and operations (Day 0, 1, and 2) of cloud infrastructure (GDCE and GKE clusters), adaptation of these clusters to meet the network function requirements, and the configuration of networking fabric and the network function workloads.
Common Uses
Configure the edge networking fabric and use Google automation blueprints to deploy Kubernetes clusters on Google Distributed Cloud Edge and/or GKE. Telecom Network Automation automatically customizes these clusters to match vendor network functions specific requirements (for example, SR-IOV) and avoid rollbacks. Day 2 cluster(s) operations and configuration management are simplified through GitOps, CaD, and control-loops.

Deploy multi-vendor 5G Core/RAN network functions (workloads) on Google Distributed Cloud Edge and/or GKE using Telecom Network Automation/Nephio SDK. Provision network function configuration using KRM resources for zero touch provisioning (ZTP). Supports Day 2 operations for network functions (NFs) with simplified operations through robust GitOps, CaD, and control-loops.
