Problem
You are unable to upgrade VMware tools beyond what is available on Google Cloud VMware Engine ESXi hosts.
Environment
- Google Cloud VMware Engine
Solution
- Download the newest tools ISO from VMware.
- Upload it to the content library.
- Attach the ISO to the VM and upgrade tools.
- Contact support in order to create a new tools repository.

VMware tools version is typically controlled by the ESXi version installed.
