Vivaticket is one of the leading international event management and ticketing platforms. Through its B2C ticketing platform, it offers the public a wide range of events, both nationally and internationally (operating in many countries like Italy, Spain, France, and UAE), ranging from live music, theatre, and museums to theme parks, football, or all kinds of sporting events.  

When large events with high demand go on sale, there is often a massive increase in traffic to the website. Previously, Vivaticket had built up a significant on-premises infrastructure to handle peak traffic and minimize user waiting times, but this left much of the environment idle 90% of the time.

To improve scalability and efficiency, Vivaticket decided to migrate to the cloud. Using Cloud Run, Vivaticket not only gains the flexibility and performance of cloud infrastructure it was looking for but also connection with the complete Google ecosystem. This allows the ticketing platform to easily leverage YouTube, Google Ads, Google Search, and Gemini, adding functionality to reach consumers and get them excited about buying tickets to top events.

Delivering top ticket purchasing experiences for all users

Vivaticket worked with partner Datwave to migrate its customer-facing ticketing platform onto Google Cloud. As Vivaticket previously ran an on-premises environment, support from Datwave was critical in familiarizing the team with the cloud architecture and minimizing issues migrating to Cloud Run. Datwave added Terraform to help manage infrastructure for each region, making it possible to deploy services to new regions in minutes.

With Cloud Run streamlining management, the Vivaticket team can quickly scale the environment ahead of major pre-sale events. Google Cloud held up to even the most strenuous stress tests, efficiently managing demand put on the system by the platform's biggest sales. While Vivaticket currently handles traffic with a virtual queue, the scalability of Google Cloud means that the company could potentially improve customer experience in the future by eliminating the queue, further reducing wait times and allowing all customers to purchase tickets at the same time.

Datwave has a great understanding of both data and AI. It uses its expertise to help us get the most out of our Google Cloud infrastructure and make it even easier for people to buy tickets to their favorite events.

Equally important, Vivaticket can, now, scale down when ticket sales slow. This means they can reduce spend and simplify management by operating in an environment that's a fraction of the size of the previous on-premises architecture for most of the year. Autoscaling maintains performance during these periods by monitoring for unexpected ticketing surges and automatically adjusting the infrastructure to meet demand.

Working with Datwave, Vivaticket incorporated elements of the Google ecosystem to improve customer experiences. Integration with Google Maps Platform helps customers find venues and directions quickly, while Google Ads targets audiences with events they might be interested in.

The next step will involve working with Vertex AI for generative AI capabilities. Vivaticket plans to use Vertex AI Search to accelerate customer access to information about interesting events. Generative AI will also help Vivaticket generate recommendations and create SEO-friendly event and venue descriptions faster.
