Overcoming scalability limits to deliver real-time logistics visibility

Recurso Confiable, a Mexico-based logistics technology company, had been growing at double digits for three years, scaling its SaaS RC Control Track (Real-Time Transportation Visibility Platform) to manage millions of shipments across Latin America. But as customer demand surged, the company hit a critical obstacle: Its previous cloud provider couldn’t keep pace.

The issue centered on scalability. “The computing was based on families: When you reached the limit, you had to migrate to a new family,” explains Alberto Colin, IT manager. “That meant configuring a new server and doing a whole migration when really what you wanted was just to increase capacity. That represented a big challenge for us.”

For a company processing millions of delivery receipts and tracking 3M+ shipments annually, this model was unsustainable. Peaks in demand only amplified the challenge: Capacity could be scaled up, but never scaled down, leaving Recurso Confiable with high costs once peak periods ended.

At the same time, customer expectations were changing. Clients wanted real-time transportation visibility, predictive insights, and automation to reduce delays and errors.

With the other cloud, once you increased the capacity of a server, it couldn’t go down. You had to maintain that cost even after the peak season ended. That was the main reason we chose Google Cloud: mainly the ability to scale the load of our applications as they grow.

To keep leading in the logistics market, Recurso Confiable needed a more flexible, cost-efficient, and secure infrastructure, one capable of supporting innovation with AI and analytics.

That’s when the team turned to Google Cloud. After evaluating options, Google stood out for its robust scalability, cost control, and integrated AI tools. With the help of partner Nubosoft, Recurso Confiable designed a modern architecture that would allow for a smooth migration and minimal downtime.

“Nubosoft played a very important role in the successful migration,” affirms Colin. “They guided us in architecture design, planned the migration, and made sure the maintenance window was very short. We didn’t have any problems after migrating.”

Turning millions of transactions into instant insights

After migrating to Google Cloud, Recurso Confiable modernized its SaaS platform. The company now runs its core web and database applications on Compute Engine, with Cloud Storage managing the upload of proof-of-delivery (POD) documents. This flexible infrastructure gives the team the ability to expand quickly and securely while maintaining the high availability that its clients across Latin America expect.

On top of this foundation, Recurso Confiable built advanced analytics pipelines to transform raw data into actionable insight. Using Datastream and BigQuery, information flows seamlessly from transactional systems into Looker Studio Pro dashboards. Logistics teams at client companies can now see issues in real time.

For example, if a truck is delayed en route, RC Control Track generates immediate alerts, helping our customers gain real-time visibility of trip deviations, which enables them to take action to reduce late arrivals and rejections at the destination. According to Jorge Cisneros, director of technology and innovation, “This shift has already reduced the rate of rejected merchandise by 3%, while also cutting the number of late deliveries.”

Artificial intelligence has become another pillar of the transformation. With Vertex AI, the team created models for classification, object detection, OCR, and natural language, which now automate the validation of shipment evidence and support a chatbot that provides real-time status updates.

As Sofia Vázquez, innovation manager, explains, “The chatbot delivers shipping updates in less than two seconds, even when handling millions of requests every day, a capability that would have been impossible with our previous infrastructure.”

Behind the scenes, Pub/Sub and Cloud Run functions distribute workloads efficiently, keeping responses fast and costs predictable. This combination of scalability, automation, and intelligent data use has enabled Recurso Confiable to track seven times more shipments than before.

We’ve reduced logistics penalties for late deliveries. That also helped us achieve 3% fewer rejected shipments, while automation reduced the number of manual activities for tracking and audits.

A roadmap for growth beyond Mexico

Team Recurso Confiable

For Recurso Confiable, the migration to Google Cloud marked a turning point. With stable infrastructure and automated processes in place, the company is preparing for the next stage of growth: consolidating its leadership in Mexico and extending its presence across Latin America and into North America.

“Our vision is to continue being leaders in Mexico while expanding into other Latin American countries and the United States,” says Mara Valencia, marketing and communications manager. “We want to position ourselves with global standards, always taking care that the data we deliver is accurate and transformed into solutions that truly help our clients.”

The company’s next steps focus on making its platform more predictive and practical. Building on the current AI models, the team is developing tools that can anticipate risks, streamline daily operations, and give customers clearer, faster insights into their supply chains. The goal is not technology for its own sake, but technology that reduces delays, avoids penalties, and improves trust in every delivery.

Cultural mindset plays a role as well. With a young team eager to experiment and adapt, Recurso Confiable sees innovation as part of its identity. “We try to do things in a fresh, challenging, and different way,” Valencia explains. “That’s what allows us to keep pace with how logistics is changing.”

This ambition is reinforced by the partnership with Google Cloud. “Google has been a strategic technological ally to take us to the big leagues,” concludes Colin. “The support we’ve received allows us to keep innovating and gives us the confidence to expand faster.”

The future is already here with artificial intelligence. We have to keep up with what is developing in other industries and adapt it to the logistics industry. It’s very challenging, but also very interesting.
