Hardis Group: Strengthening its leadership in the WMS market with Google Cloud

Google Cloud Results
  • Optimized costs and deployments

  • Security and performance guarantees thanks to Google Cloud infrastructure

  • Increased flexibility, innovation, and competitiveness

  • Effective support for international clients

  • Simplified new customer acquisition process with Google Marketplace

In response to the rapid evolution of the logistics market and the growing needs of its customers in terms of performance and international expansion, Hardis Group has chosen to extend its Reflex offer in Google Cloud to increase scalability and flexibility.

Meeting the challenges of modern supply chain management

Our priority was also to develop our solutions toward a SaaS-type offer in order to benefit from the advantages of containerization. The objective is to increase scalability and capacity to adapt to market expectations while optimizing performance, regardless of where on the planet our solutions are used.

Reflex specializes in software for the supply chain. The publisher capitalizes on 30 years of R&D, in close collaboration with nearly 450 customers, and stands out for its sustained growth worldwide. It is established in France, Spain, Italy, Poland, and the Netherlands and can rely on a large network of system integrators everywhere in the world.

Embodied by the Reflex brand, a portfolio of solutions designed to optimize the supply chain of companies based around the warehouse management system (WMS), the business of publishing software for logistics represents an essential part of Hardis Group's turnover. With the rapid evolution of the market, particularly linked to the explosion of ecommerce and the omnichannel approach, the complexity of supply chain management has increased considerably. "All our customers have had to rethink their logistics to adapt to new market standards and we have, of course, developed our solutions accordingly in order to remain competitive," explains Loïc Salvi, Reflex Cloud Product Manager at Hardis Group.

"At the same time, some of our customers expressed the need for support in their international expansion, requiring logistics solutions capable of adapting to local realities while maintaining a high level of performance. In order to gain in terms of scalability and flexibility, and to be able to be geographically present where our customers need us, the development of a Saas offering on a public cloud was needed."

"Our priority was also to develop our solutions toward a SaaS-type offer in order to benefit from the advantages of containerization," adds Loïc Salvi. "The objective is to increase scalability and capacity to adapt to market expectations while optimizing performance, regardless of where on the planet our solutions are used."

Developing the business model by counting on a reliable and innovative partner

The publisher benchmarked various public cloud offerings, but the services and support offered by Google Cloud convinced it to opt for this platform. "In addition to the high performance and robustness of the infrastructure, it was the combination of managed services, such as Google Cloud SQL, enhanced security with strict SLAs (service-level agreements), and the technical support offered by Google Cloud that won us over," indicates Loïc Salvi. "More than a technology provider, we were looking for a partner that would join us to commit to availability, replication, backups, encryption, and so on. These guarantees provided by Google Cloud played a crucial role in our decision because, as a SaaS solution provider in a very competitive market, we cannot afford to have anything go wrong. This is especially true since the slightest interruption in service can cause significant financial losses for our customers."

Google Cloud's support was a decisive factor for the success of this project, with dedicated technical support to guide us in our choices of architecture and services and to test the effectiveness of the solutions implemented.

An economical and fully managed relational database service for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Server, Google Cloud SQL simplified Hardis Group's approach: the company has taken advantage of the project to move to PostgreSQL, which has allowed it to optimize licensing costs while benefiting from automatic scalability. "We have gained in performance and security, with Google Cloud SQL offering native data encryption, an essential requirement for guaranteeing the security of sensitive information handled by our customers," Loïc Salvi specifies.

A solution that combines immediate performance and sustainable growth

Effectively, by choosing Google Cloud, we have discovered much more than a service provider. Thanks to the support of a technological partner that is always at the forefront of innovation, we have not only accelerated and secured our transformation, but also unleashed the potential of our offer. With the flexibility gained through Google Cloud, we are much better equipped to meet all market challenges and offer our customers innovative solutions that meet their needs. In other words, this partnership is a real asset for our future.

The company intends to capitalize on the SaaS mode setup with Google Cloud to consolidate its leading position and support its growth, particularly in terms of recurring revenue and penetration of new markets. "This is especially the case since the integration of Reflex into the Google Cloud Marketplace is another strength of this partnership," says Loïc Salvi. "We have increased our visibility and the attractiveness of our solution by expanding our audience to all Google Cloud customers, which also translates into a simplified and therefore less expensive process for acquiring new customers."

Key for the future development of Hardis Group's logistics solutions publishing business, the Reflex SaaS offering on Google Cloud also results in immediate benefits. In fact, the company is now able to support its customers with their international expansion without compromising on performance and security: thanks to Google Cloud's global infrastructure, Reflex can now be deployed quickly and efficiently in different markets, with encrypted and automated deployments, thereby significantly reducing implementation lead times.

In terms of profitability, this new offering should also allow Hardis Group to control its costs, both in terms of database licenses and also in terms of managing peak loads during periods such as Black Friday or Christmas: thanks to automatically managed scalability, the company can adjust resource consumption as precisely as possible.

Finally, Hardis Group continues to invest in AI with the forthcoming integration of Google Cloud AI technologies into its Reflex solutions in the form of intelligent order search services or document aggregation through chatbots.

Reflex is a business unit of Hardis Group, an IT company headquartered in Grenoble (France), with 1,700 employees and a turnover of €186.6 million in 2023.

A French leader in WMS and in the top three in Europe, Reflex publishes a modular software suite that helps orchestrate, optimize, and supervise logistics networks (warehouses, factories, stores, drive-through collection points, and more).

The analyst firm Gartner has recognized Hardis Group as one of the major WMS vendors in Europe for its Reflex WMS software.
