Gleamer has solidified its position as a leader in AI applied to radiological analysis by partnering with Google Cloud to strengthen its scalability and accelerate the development of innovative solutions for healthcare professionals.

Google Cloud, a technological springboard for medical innovation

Since its creation in 2017, Gleamer has established itself as a pioneer in artificial intelligence solutions applied to radiology. The company quickly identified AI as a key solution to meet the growing demand for medical image analysis. Its AI solutions, integrated into the Gleamer CopilotⓇ, are deployed in over 2,500 public and private institutions. Incorporating several internally developed AI models, it supports radiologists by improving patient care, reducing healthcare costs, accelerating treatments, and optimizing workflows and productivity.

Present in over 45 countries, with a particularly strong footprint in Europe and the United States, the company manages more than 35 million exams per year, helping to standardize the quality of care, even in medical deserts. "These regions, where medical resources are scarce, suffer from a critical shortage of radiologists. Our mission is to make high-quality care accessible to everyone, especially where the needs are most pressing, and more broadly to reduce inequalities in access to accurate and reliable diagnoses," explains Alexis Ducarouge, CTO of Gleamer.

This ambitious strategy is supported by a partnership with Google Cloud, initiated in 2021. This choice resulted from an in-depth reflection on the company's technological needs. "We chose Google Cloud for its robustness and its ability to support us in our growth, particularly by offering us the scalability and performance we need to continue to develop, both in terms of geographical expansion and the enrichment of our platform with new innovative features," says Alexis Ducarouge.

Google Cloud's HDS (Hébergeur de Données de Santé - Health Data Host) certification was an essential prerequisite, guaranteeing optimal security and compliance for the processing of sensitive medical data. This certification, equivalent to US HIPAA standards, is a crucial guarantee of trust for healthcare institutions.

Our mission is to make high-quality care accessible to everyone, especially where the needs are most pressing, and more broadly to reduce inequalities in access to accurate and reliable diagnoses.

From GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) to Datastore, Gleamer extensively leverages the Google Cloud ecosystem. BigQuery has particularly stood out as a major change since the migration. "BigQuery and the use of medical LLMs like MedPalm have considerably simplified the massive analysis of radiological data used to train our models. Its ease of use allows us to quickly process considerable volumes of information without worrying about the underlying complexity. We can query our databases in record time and obtain accurate results, which optimize both our productivity and our efficiency," emphasizes Gleamer's CTO.

The recent integration of Vertex AI's AI models, including Med-PaLM and Gemini, marks a new stage in the evolution of Gleamer's platform. "Med-PaLM's native ability to understand and analyze complex medical data with exceptional precision allows us to automate the drafting of reports, thus reducing the time needed to provide critical results while relieving healthcare professionals of these repetitive tasks," explains Alexis Ducarouge.

Currently being deployed, this automated report generation addresses a strong demand from radiologists for innovative and intuitive solutions. "The simplicity of implementation has been a major advantage, with Med-PaLM integrating naturally into our existing workflow, which allows us to deploy solutions more quickly and efficiently," specifies Alexis Ducarouge.

An ambitious expansion strategy

Convinced that AI raises quality standards in the healthcare field while contributing to increased reliability in diagnoses, Gleamer is pursuing a two-pronged expansion strategy. On the one hand, the company is expanding its catalog to cover all imaging modalities. After establishing its expertise in standard radiology with several certified products, the company is deploying its new medical devices for mammography and CT scans, with MRI as the next step.

On the other hand, Google Cloud's robust infrastructure, with its strategically distributed data centers, facilitates Gleamer's international expansion. Google Cloud's presence in key markets such as Asia, where few cloud infrastructures exist, opens up new growth prospects for the company.

Thanks to Google Cloud, we are reducing technical barriers to focus on what really matters: contributing to saving lives.

A meaningful collaboration

Beyond a simple technological partnership, the collaboration between Gleamer and Google Cloud embodies an innovative vision of radiology.

In fact, the clinical performance of Gleamer's solutions demonstrates the transformative impact of AI in radiology. Validated by over 30 scientific publications, they show an average improvement of 30% in lesion detection, allowing general radiologists to reach the level of specialists. And unlike human expertise, which can falter during night shifts or after long hours, AI maintains this constant level of excellence, guaranteeing optimal diagnostic quality 24/7.

Scalable at will, robust, and offering a high level of security, the Google Cloud infrastructure already enables the company to manage more than 35 million diagnoses per year.

For Alexis Ducarouge, this partnership, which opens up new geographical and functional expansion prospects while democratizing access to quality radiological care, perfectly illustrates a shared vision of the role played by AI in the healthcare sector: "Thanks to Google Cloud, we are reducing technical barriers to focus on what matters: contributing to saving lives."
