The analytics process was fully manual, with the group's project managers in different departments gathering data and making reports on their own. Not only was this method time-consuming, the value of the data and analytics reports was also limited due to the lack of a standardized workflow.
Aiming to enhance its data analytics efficiency, FEIB's Retail Banking Group envisioned a centralized data analytics system that could automatically extract data from online sources and quickly generate reports per request. Due to the financial industry's stringent regulatory requirements, and with Google Cloud's multimodal AI analytics capabilities, FEIB's Retail Banking Data Intelligence Team chose Google Cloud to build its new public opinion analysis system.

More efficient, in-depth public opinion analytics powered by AI
With the technical support of Microfusion, a Google Cloud partner, FEIB's Retail Banking Group set up keywords to collect text data from major online media, social platforms, and forums in Taiwan. The data is streamed through BigQuery to Gemini 1.5 Pro on Vertex AI to identify text sentiment as positive, neutral, or negative. After several months of training and improvement, FEIB launched its public opinion analytics system in mid-2025.
The most immediate result was a 50% reduction in time required to process data. With the seamless integration between BigQuery and Vertex AI, as well as Gemini's capacity to analyze 80,000 data entries per hour, FEIB can complete most of the analyses it needs within one day. By eliminating the burden of manual data collection, project managers in FEIB's Retail Banking Group can devote more time to addressing customer needs, focusing on enhancing customer experience, strengthening brand affinity, and improving product competitiveness.

Now, the Data Intelligence Team can easily monitor year-long trend shifts in public sentiment and investigate the underlying causes behind these changes.

Since Gemini can process text, images, video, and other data types, FEIB's Retail Banking Data Intelligence Team also plans to incorporate more wealth management-related data into public opinion analysis, gaining a more comprehensive view of market dynamics. Moving forward, FEIB will continue to refine and enhance its AI models, empowering project managers to independently perform data analysis on a daily basis.
