cacaFly transformed into an AI-driven service provider, using Vertex AI to cut data processing costs and boost client marketing ROI.

Transitioning to an AI-driven model, unlocking next-gen growth

The global wave of AI is driving unprecedented demand for advanced compute power, with the market for AI servers projected for massive growth. To remain competitive and better serve clients, cacaFly, a leading digital and social marketing agency in Taiwan, is evolving beyond traditional media integration to become an AI-driven service provider.

This strategic transition was essential to capitalize on new market opportunities, but the company first needed to tackle internal hurdles: high data processing costs and the inefficiencies inherent in traditional creative production methods. This required a solution that could automate creative workflows and use AI to automatically define user segments, enabling data-driven marketing decisions.

cacaFly had taken a proactive approach, establishing its Cloud and AI Solutions Center before 2022. As a long-term core partner of Google Ads, selecting Google Cloud as its new infrastructure was a strategic move that allowed the company to leverage advanced cloud data governance and generative AI technologies.

Our long-term partnership with Google Ads relies on its excellent data integration. This allows us to seamlessly pull data from the ecosystem into BigQuery for immediate analysis, maximizing value for our clients.

As C.H. Wu, vice president of cacaFly, explains, "We have partnered with Google Ads since 2014, and the platform’s strength lies in its excellent data integration. This allows us to seamlessly pull data from our advertising ecosystem – such as Google Ads and Google Analytics – into BigQuery for real-time analysis and application, maximizing value for our clients."

This vision led cacaFly to consolidate all marketing data on BigQuery, eliminating costly data read/write cycles and laying the essential groundwork for its proprietary creative platform built on Vertex AI.

Driving creative agility and value with Vertex AI

To address the high costs and inefficiencies of traditional creative production, cacaFly designed a three-pronged solution built on Google Cloud. For example, BigQuery was deployed to consolidate massive amounts of client marketing data, an essential step which ensured a reliable, centralized data foundation, preparing the organization for large-scale AI deployment.

The resources can be reinvested in marketing. This is a complete value transfer process. When brands no longer need to reinvest a significant budget in resource-heavy material production, that budget goes into media.

cacaFly also built a proprietary creative arbitration platform based on Vertex AI Search & Conversation and Agent Builder (also known as Gemini Enterprise). This platform acts as the core engine, translating vague, high-level user prompts into the precise, complex model instructions required for multimodal creative generation. This abstraction layer is key to making advanced AI accessible to non-technical creative and marketing teams.

Next, cacaFly integrated a suite of generative AI models, including Gemini, Imagen, and Veo 3, to create a seamless, automated, end-to-end multimodal creative production workflow. The integration allows the platform to handle text, images, and video from a single interface, accelerating creative delivery and iteration.

The ability to use these pre-trained models with custom instructions was critical, enabling the creation of high-fidelity, high-volume content. This approach specifically addressed the bottleneck of resource-intensive manual production. As Wu highlights, their focus was not solely on the technology but on the resultant business model: "The resources can be reinvested in marketing,” he explains. “This is a complete value transfer process. When brands no longer need to reinvest a significant budget in resource-heavy material production, that budget goes into media."

By standardizing the creative process and reducing the reliance on costly, bespoke production, cacaFly successfully transitioned its business model to deliver greater value directly through optimized media spend and higher ROI.

End-to-end AI workflow cuts production inefficiencies

With this new setup, cacaFly achieved a reduction in data processing costs. By adopting the "AI In-Warehouse" model using BigQuery, it consolidated client data and ran AI applications directly within the warehouse. This eliminated costly cycles associated with external processing and simplified system maintenance, which led to both financial and time savings.

The proprietary generative AI solution delivered a statistically significant boost to marketing campaign ROI. The introduction of AI-generated virtual avatars saw increased engagement rates, outperforming celebrity endorsers by 11%. Compared to the high production costs associated with traditional celebrity endorsements, the ROI was significantly improved, achieving click-through rates (CTR). This allowed brands to move budget from resource-heavy material production directly into media campaigns, maximizing ad spend effectiveness.

cacaFly also gained a strategic advantage through its One Google approach. As both a Google Cloud partner and independent software vendor (ISV), cacaFly gained early access to Google solution previews, enabling it to incorporate resources into product planning and achieve quicker time-to-market. The integration across Google Cloud, Google Ads, and Google Workspace also fostered a cultural change, empowering non-engineering staff to leverage AI for coding and prototyping. This democratization of AI accelerated development cycles and PoC releases, effectively breaking down traditional silos and allowing cross-functional teams to co-develop products seamlessly.

"Data governance and management are the first steps in AI development. We shouldn’t just focus on generative AI. Embedding industry knowledge and data into AI-accessible sources such as BigQuery is key to building competitive AI products,” says Wu.

Moving forward, cacaFly will continue to deepen its AI applications. By embedding knowledge into BigQuery, it is building a one-stop creative production and optimization platform, providing clients with a more valuable media experience through standardized Google Cloud services.
