AdVon Commerce was founded in 2019 to help brands and retailers improve online shopping and scale to deliver better-quality product content, particularly on product detail pages (PDPs).
"Pages with perfect designs but poor product copy can still lose 20% of potential sales," says Zachariah Johnston, Retail Project Manager, AdVon Commerce. "Shoppers are less likely to buy when product pages feature unappealing imagery, inadequate details, or generic bullet points that describe but don't sell."
As AdVon's reputation grew for crafting outstanding product content, it began to work with some of the world's largest retailers, including the top five. With the help of Bespin Global, AdVon's technology infrastructure scales seamlessly with the business on Google Cloud using an environment that includes Gemini, Vertex AI, BigQuery, and Dataflow.
Around the same time Gemini models debuted, AdVon signed a contract with a large retailer to use AI to enhance a large group of product listings. To complete the work efficiently, AdVon partnered with Bespin Global for a gen AI MVP environment and Proof of Concept to test Gemini's capabilities to automate creating product descriptions.
The results exceeded expectations, kicking AdVon's business into high gear. With ongoing infrastructure and deployment support from Bespin Global, the company went into full production with its Google Cloud-powered AI environment.
AdVon demonstrated — with a variety of clients and product categories — how higher-quality product attributes and product detail pages increase conversions. To further increase results, retailers can use the improved product attribute data to enhance website search capabilities, so it's easier for shoppers to find what they want.

A group of sporting goods manufacturer brands turned to AdVon to enhance data for a catalog of 93,673 products sold across a multitude of sites. AdVon noted that in the past, a product catalog of this size could take months or a year to process. By using its experts in combination with its AdVonAI solution, the process was completed in under a month.
The initiative aided compliance with retailer product information guidelines. Higher product data quality scores improved the sporting goods' eligibility for the retailer's valuable paid placements, merchandising features, and organic search rankings.
The sporting good brands hit a home run with the AdVon solution. Discoverability improved as over 3,000 products received new top 100 placements and top search rank placements increased 30% overall. Average daily sales jumped 67%, resulting in a $17 million revenue lift in 60 days.
AdVon experiments with a variety of AI models, including Gemini for its multi-modality capabilities, Veo for video generation, and Imagen for image generation. The company also uses models available in the Model Garden on Vertex AI to develop copy that engages shoppers. The company's teams find the models particularly useful for creating messages that resonate in each product category.
BigQuery tables house AdVon's keywords data. The company uses Cloud SQL, Postgres, and Google Cloud partner MongoDB's Atlas for its databases to ensure performance, flexibility, and scalability.
The company receives existing product data from its clients in many ways. The largest retailers connect through APIs and some use BigQuery tables. Others ask AdVon to scrape content from their websites, while some have the company combine that data with JSON files that AdVon can parse as needed.
Abigail Kemper, Retail Program Manager, AdVon Commerce, appreciates the engineering team's focus on critical business processes and technologies rather than basic IT infrastructure. "We can shift our resources to take advantage of new business opportunities," Kemper says.
New opportunities include generative video. AdVon anticipated rising demand and recently developed a new service offering. Gemini 2.5 Pro and Veo enable AdVon to quickly create product lifestyle videos that demonstrate a product's function and help shoppers see how it will fit into their lives.
