Google Cloud CDN Interconnect and Peering pricing update

This is an update regarding upcoming pricing changes for CDN Interconnect, Direct Peering, and Carrier Peering.

Effective May 1, 2026, Google Cloud will implement pricing adjustments to the list prices for data transfer out through CDN Interconnect, Direct Peering, and Carrier Peering.

What do you need to know?

Significant investments have been made in global infrastructure to provide high-throughput, low-latency connectivity. These pricing updates are part of an ongoing effort to align pricing with the value and performance of these services.

Starting May 1, 2026, the list price per GiB for CDN Interconnect, Direct Peering, and Carrier Peering will increase in North America, Europe, and Asia.

What do you need to do?

No immediate technical action is required to maintain service. However, it is recommended that customers take the following administrative steps:

  • Review billing: Identify historical usage of impacted services to understand how monthly bills may change starting with the May 2026 invoice.
  • Update budgets: Adjust budget projections to account for these rates for usage occurring on or after May 1, 2026.
  • Explore alternatives: Customers currently utilizing Direct Peering or Carrier Peering are encouraged to explore migrating to a Verified Peering Provider (VPP). VPPs offer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and is the Google recommended way to connect to publically available Google resources. How does this affect existing contracts? Impacts may vary based on specific contract terms. Generally, customers with fixed-price contracts will not see changes until renewal. Customers with floating discounts (discounts off list price) may be subject to list price adjustments following the notice period. Are there alternative connectivity options recommended by Google Cloud? Yes. For customers currently using Direct Peering or Carrier Peering, exploring migration to a Verified Peering Provider (VPP) is recommended.
