The following terms apply to Generative AI Preview Products:
Definitions. “Generative AI Preview Products” means Generative AI Services that are Pre-GA Offerings. The Service Specific Terms applicable to Generative AI Services, as amended by the Pre-GA Offerings Terms, also apply to Generative AI Preview Products.
Additional Use Restrictions. Unless permitted by Google in writing (including in the Documentation or an Order Form), Customer will ensure that Customer and its End Users will not:
- use a Generative AI Preview Product for commercial or production purposes; or
- disclose Generated Output to a third party.
Co-Scientist. These terms apply to the Co-Scientist offering (“Co-Scientist”) which is a Generative AI Preview Product.
a. Description. Co-Scientist is a multi-agentic AI research offering that assists researchers by generating and exploring proposals for scientific research across various fields.
b. Relationship to Other Terms. Co-Scientist is an "AI Agent" as defined in the Service Specific Terms and Customer’s use of Co-Scientist is subject to the terms of the Agreement applicable to AI Agents. When using Web Grounding for Enterprise in the UI of Gemini Enterprise or Agentspace, the section entitled “Web Grounding for Enterprise” and subsection (iii) of the “Agentic AI Services” section of the “Service Terms” in the Service Specific Terms also apply, except that the first reference to ‘Grounding with Google Search’ in subsection (iii) of the “Agentic AI Services” section is replaced with ‘Web Grounding for Enterprise’.
c. Intended Use. Co-Scientist is intended to augment, not replace, the scientific research and development process. The outputs generated by Co-Scientist are suggestions for general experimental approaches and may not be used without prior active review, validation, verification, meaningful modification, and adaptation by the Customer or its End Users. Customer and its End Users are solely responsible for independently reviewing, testing, validating, and verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of any Generated Output before any use or reliance, including all onward testing. Additionally, Co-Scientist (including its Generated Output) is not intended, validated or approved for clinical use or human subject research.
d. Prohibited Use. In addition to the restrictions and obligations in the Agreement, including the Acceptable Use Policy and Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy, Customer will not, and will not allow End Users to use Co-Scientist (including its Generated Output) in a manner that:
- Violates applicable laws or regulations governing scientific research, including those related to human subjects, animal welfare, or biosafety; or
- Would constitute academic dishonesty, plagiarism, or a violation of the academic integrity policies of any institution or scientific publication.
e. Attribution. Subject to Section f. below (No Endorsement), Customer may publish works based on or in connection with its use of Co-Scientist with the prior written agreement between the Parties (email sufficient) and subject always to Customer citing the original Google publication on Co-Scientist: Gottweiss, Juraj, et al. "Towards an AI co-scientist." arXiv preprint arXiv:2502.18864 (2025).
f. No Endorsement. Customer may not use Google’s name or Brand Features to endorse its work or any publication that relies on any Generated Output from Co-Scientist without Google’s prior written permission.
In addition to these terms, the Pre-GA Offerings Terms at https://cloud.google.com/terms/service-terms apply to the Customer’s use of the Generative AI Preview Products, as well as: (i) the terms of the agreement under which Google has agreed to provide access to the Google Cloud Platform to Customer, (ii) in the case of channel customers, the Google Cloud Platform Terms of Service located at https://cloud.google.com/terms, or (iii) in the case of public sector partners, the terms of the agreement under which Google has authorized that public sector partner to distribute or resell access to the Google Cloud Platform.
