Deleting instances

This page describes how to delete Cloud SQL instances.

Note the following when you plan to delete an instance:

  • After you delete an instance, it might continue to appear in your project with an "unknown" size but with a "Being deleted" status. This is normal and the instance disappears completely after a brief period of time.
  • It can take a week for the instance to be completely deleted. Until then, you cannot reuse the instance name. If you try to create an instance with the same name during that period, you receive this error: 409 - DUPLICATE, INSTANCE_ALREADY_EXISTS.
  • Unused routes automatically created by a Cloud SQL instance are also automatically deleted after all resources using it are deleted. This can take a few days.
