SAP HANA BYOL on Google Cloud Platform

SAP HANA BYOL(Bring-Your-Own-License) on Google Cloud Platform provides SAP customers and partners with SAP-certified cloud infrastructure to run SAP HANA. With Google Cloud Platform, SAP HANA infrastructure can be rapidly provisioned without needing to make any capital investments or long-term commitments. Grow from prototype to production, without having to think about capacity, reliability or performance.
Licensing

SAP customers can use their existing or new SAP HANA licenses following the bring-your-own-license model to run SAP HANA on Google Cloud Platform.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) operating system licenses are provided by Google Cloud Platform and your Compute Engine virtual machine hourly cost includes licensing cost as well. Alternatively, you could also choose to bring your existing RHEL or SUSE license.

Supported SAP HANA scenarios

SAP HANA BYOL on Google Cloud Platform is supported for both production and non-production use cases.

The following SAP HANA scenarios are supported by SAP for production on Google Cloud Platform. For additional information about supported SAP HANA scenarios, see HANA Hardware Directory.

  • — Native SAP HANA applications
  • — Native SAP HANA data marts and analytics
  • — SAP S/4HANA
  • — SAP BW/4HANA
  • — SAP CAR

Pricing

The following tables provide estimates of sample SAP HANA configurations on GCP. To estimate the pricing for a multi-node / scale-out SAP HANA cluster, multiply the cost of a single SAP HANA node configuration with the number of nodes required.

GCP Instance Type vCPU Memory(GiB) Supported for production* Monthly cost
n1-highmem-8 8 52 No See estimate
n1-highmem-16 16 104 No See estimate
n1-highmem-32 32 208 Yes See estimate

Support Custom Machine Types

Google Cloud Platform and SAP have collaborated to extend SAP HANA support to custom machine types. You can run SAP HANA on machine-type instances with between 32 and 64 vCPUs as long as the ratio of vCPUs to gigabytes of memory is at least 1:6.5.

Getting Started and Support

To get started with running your SAP HANA application(s) on Google Cloud Platform, you should start with the SAP HANA Planning Guide.

Google Cloud Platform customers with Gold and Platinum Support can request assistance with HANA provisioning and configuration questions on Google Compute Engine. Additional information on Google Cloud support options are available here.
