Applying maintenance updates

This page shows how to manually apply a maintenance software update to nodes in your Memorystore for Memcached cluster.

You can only update nodes if you have received an email informing you that a 30-day manual maintenance window is open.

For best practices on applying manual software updates, see Best practices for manual maintenance.

Updating individual nodes in the Memcached cluster

To update individual nodes in your cluster, run the following command, replacing VARIABLES with appropriate values:

gcloud beta memcache instances apply-software-update INSTANCE_NAME --node-ids=NODE_ID_1,NODE_ID_2 --region=REGION

Any nodes not updated manually within 30 days of notification are updated automatically.

Updating all nodes in the Memcached cluster

To update all nodes in your cluster, run the following command, replacing VARIABLES with appropriate values:

gcloud beta memcache instances apply-software-update INSTANCE_NAME --apply-all --region=REGION

Checking for available updates and verifying node updates

If you want to check if a maintenance update is available for a node, or if you want to see if a node has already been updated, run the following command:

gcloud beta memcache instances describe INSTANCE_ID --region=REGION --format="table(updateAvailable,memcacheNodes:format='table(nodeId,updateAvailable.yesno())')"
