RIA Catalyst paired AlloyDB Omni and Cloud Run to process complex regulatory data, transforming wealth management mergers and acquisitions processes with real-time machine learning.
RIA Catalyst, a disruptive mergers and acquisitions software platform headquartered in Dallas, Texas, operates at the specialized intersection of wealth management intelligence and machine learning technology. The startup provides predictive sourcing resources for large registered investment advisors managing upwards of 100 billion dollars in assets under management, alongside institutional private equity groups executing strategic sector consolidations. When the company first launched, the engineering group constructed a basic minimum viable product by piping structured datasets straight from BigQuery into a standard, out-of-the-box PowerBI visualization interface. However, as the platform team injected increasingly complex artificial intelligence algorithms into production, the constraints of PowerBI quickly emerged. Business clients in the high-net-worth broker-dealer ecosystem demanded highly responsive, low-latency data interactions that rigid visualization templates simply could not sustain.
To build a data infrastructure capable of supporting advanced machine learning calculations without expanding operational overhead, RIA Catalyst migrated its user interface layer to a decoupled Next.js web application architecture. While this modernized client-side configuration satisfied user interface requirements, the application’s backend infrastructure required a more robust, low-latency operational database engine. The team required a highly performant database platform with native PostgreSQL compatibility to handle real-time microservices, manage continuous API requests, and eliminate concurrent deadlock scenarios.
Managing a self-hosted PostgreSQL instance would have drained valuable startup engineering resources, pulling focus away from core product innovation and algorithm development.
Our early PowerBI setup quickly hit structural limitations when we introduced sophisticated machine learning models. Graduating to a native Next.js interface backed by AlloyDB Omni allowed us to scale easily, completely removing the database administration overhead that typically slows down a lean engineering team.

Consequently, RIA Catalyst consolidated its operational production environments onto a unified Google Cloud stack featuring AlloyDB for Omni, Cloud Run, and BigQuery.
Integrating AlloyDB Omni and Cloud Run directly solved the severe latency and concurrency blockages that threatened platform reliability under heavy user loads. Previously, concurrent computational workloads executing complex queries across vast financial files triggered product deadlocks and timeout failures, stalling critical user experiences. Upgrading to AlloyDB's intelligent data placement architecture eliminated these timeout issues. The system smoothly separates write operations from read pools, enabling the platform to run high-volume, concurrent queries with absolute performance stability. This robust separation allows RIA Catalyst's software applications to interact dynamically with complex, REST APIs with zero platform downtime.
AlloyDB Omni completely eliminated the deadlock timeout scenarios we faced under concurrent workloads. The database architecture gave us the performance stability needed to automate our background ingestion pipelines, saving our team twenty hours of manual work every month with total data integrity.

This structural optimization unlocked massive time savings and enhanced developer agility. When the infrastructure was first deployed, the startup spent close to 20 hours a month on manual data extraction, pipeline cleanup, and workflow injection tasks. Because AlloyDB Omni integrates natively with Google Cloud's CloudRun, the team confidently automated these background ingestion tasks, reclaiming an hour every single day. This automation enables a tight five-person team to operate a global M&A intelligence application seamlessly. The database engine scales dynamically to ingest massive public regulatory files, including SEC registrations, FINRA logs, and Form ADV updates. It securely merges these datasets with deep offline transaction statistics, processing multi-dimensional variables across 400,000 distinct financial advisor profiles and 1,500 historical M&A transactions effortlessly.
By anchoring its software architecture on AlloyDB Omni, RIA Catalyst was also able to successfully deploy a patent-pending, proprietary neural network artificial intelligence model directly into production. Rather than returning simple historical balance sheets, the algorithm scans thousands of underlying operational data points to calculate precise momentum characteristics. The software computes a dynamic Acquisition Score ranging from zero to 100 for each wealth firm. This custom algorithm trains from over 300 data points per acquisition across 1,500 historical deals to generate a clear, reliable transaction readiness signal. The platform pairs with automated summaries, delivering clear, bulleted takeaways outlining exact commercial drivers that have already successfully supported over $100 billion in transaction AUM.
This predictive visibility arrives at a critical turning point for the financial sector. RIA Catalyst's data analytics reveal a massive structural shift: high-net-worth advisory teams managing billions within legacy institutions are increasingly spinning out to independent broker-dealers. Although independent wealth spaces capture 90 percent of transactional volume, traditional banks still hold the vast majority of assets, signaling a massive wave of upcoming independent consolidation. To capture this market shift, RIA Catalyst is leveraging AlloyDB Omni as the foundation to construct the industry’s leading automated M&A investment banking agent for the future.
We are building the industry's first automated M&A banking agent on top of AlloyDB Omni. By leveraging Google Cloud's fast database scaling, we are enabling independent buyers to query deep regulatory and transaction records, receiving top-tier investment advisory insights at an analytical fraction of legacy corporate banking costs.
