Raylu: Helping top funds move first on the deals that matter

Results on Google Cloud
  • Doubled company annual recurring revenue over three consecutive quarters

  • Scaled infrastructure as Raylu grew from three to 30 employees

  • Supported growing demand from private-market investment firms

  • Reduced API costs by consolidating multiple LLM calls into fewer requests

Raylu built its AI origination engine on Google Cloud and Gemini, closing the gap between investor conviction and deployed capital.

Rebuilding private-market origination around AI

Founded in 2022, Raylu is building the AI origination engine for private markets, replacing static tools and manual research with an always-on system designed for the speed of modern investing. The company identified a structural problem in private markets: investment teams were relying on static databases, spreadsheets, and manual research processes to compete in markets moving faster than their infrastructure. Raylu saw an opportunity to rebuild the origination process around AI. Its AI origination engine combines public information with proprietary firm data to map markets, prioritize relevant companies, identify emerging signals, and support earlier founder engagement.

Raylu initially tested the experience through a simple form before developing the conversational interface customers use today. The team later developed a conversational interface that allows investors to express their strategies and research questions in natural language. The platform helps investment teams spend less time on manual research and more time evaluating opportunities, building relationships, and applying proprietary judgment.

As adoption increased, Raylu needed infrastructure that could support large, concurrent AI workloads without creating unnecessary operational complexity. Raylu selected Google Cloud for its scalability, dependable AI infrastructure, security capabilities, and support for growing technology companies.

“Dependability and scalability were non-negotiable for us,” says Ilkka. “Google Cloud gives us confidence in the infrastructure behind our always-on platform, allowing our team to focus on building the product and serving customers.”

Managing cost and performance at scale

Google Cloud worked with Raylu to evaluate the architecture, anticipated usage, and economics of operating the platform at greater scale. Transitioning to a new platform required Samuel and Nathan to align Google Cloud’s capabilities and security with their deep IAM knowledge. Raylu prioritized deployment speed and architectural simplicity, avoiding unnecessary infrastructure complexity wherever possible. The production environment runs on a large Google Cloud instance supported by a Cloud SQL database and a Redis cache.

To power its AI origination engine at scale, Raylu simultaneously performs tens of thousands of web queries, data-processing tasks, database actions, and LLM calls. To handle the immense throughput, Raylu integrated Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. The platform provides the throughput management and retry controls Raylu needs to operate high-volume LLM workloads reliably.

“Agent Platform makes it straightforward to evaluate and switch between models as our requirements evolve,” says Ilkka. “That flexibility has helped us consolidate model calls, improve our systems, and reduce API costs as we scale.”

The dynamic nature of Agent Platform also makes it easy for Raylu to swap models during testing and development. Raylu consolidated multiple data-processing requests into fewer model calls, reducing API costs and simplifying its workflows. Raylu safeguards clients' proprietary strategies, CRM data, and relationship intelligence with strict access controls, enforced through Secret Manager and Security Command Center under its SOC 2-compliant security program.

Supporting Raylu’s rapid growth with Google Cloud and Gemini

Google Cloud gave Raylu the dependable infrastructure needed to support a period of rapid business growth. The company doubled its annual recurring revenue (ARR) over three consecutive quarters. To support growing customer demand, Raylu expanded from three founders to a team of 30.

Raylu currently serves approximately 60 private equity customers. The company is also expanding into larger contracts as investment firms consolidate more of their origination workflows in Raylu. "Adopting Gemini coincided perfectly with Raylu’s scalability,” says Ilkka.

“We simultaneously run tens of thousands of research and data-processing workflows across the origination process. Agent Platform gives us the infrastructure and throughput needed to support growing customer demand.”

And Raylu is just getting started with Google Cloud. Raylu continues to push the boundaries of AI-native origination. Raylu's AI engineers are currently running extensive benchmarks and testing on Google Cloud's newly released Gemini 3 models to identify further operational optimizations and performance improvements. By anchoring its infrastructure on a proven environment like Google Cloud, Raylu has eliminated operational headaches and engineering distractions, so the team can focus entirely on scaling their business.

"With Google Cloud, Raylu is building an always-on origination system that helps investors turn their investment strategies into deployed capital faster,” says Ilkka.
