Cloud CDN now handles 93% of all web requests, shielding internal servers from massive traffic spikes
Power achieved a zero-downtime migration to Google Cloud in just five weeks
Successfully blocked 45 major DDoS attacks in a single month with zero impact on production
Reduced infrastructure costs while scaling to support 3.5x traffic increases during peak holiday shopping periods
Power partnered with Netlight to migrate its entire web environment to Google Cloud, implementing Cloud Armor and Cloud CDN to ensure 100% uptime during peak sales seasons. This transition established a secure and performant foundation for transparent hybrid-cloud connectivity—encompassing workloads and paving the way for future AI-driven tooling.
On Black Friday 2024, a massive attack brought down our site. Now, even during much larger DDoS bursts, there is zero impact thanks to Cloud CDN and Cloud Armor. We see reports of huge attacks coming in, but for us, there is no impact on production because of our system set up.

As the second-largest electronics retailer in the Nordics, Power operates a complex omni-channel model across Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. With 6,000 employees and over $2.2 billion in annual revenue, the company's ecommerce platform is the vital first point of contact for customers.
For a retailer that sees traffic spikes of 3.5x during Black Friday Week, uptime is non-negotiable. In 2024, a massive DDoS attack on Black Friday overwhelmed Power's previous setup, filling their pipelines with bad requests and bringing down its site. Seeking a more robust, integrated solution, Power turned to Netlight to migrate to Google Cloud Armor and Cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN).
Netlight's expertise was critical in architecting a hybrid-cloud solution that connected Power's on-premises servers to Google Cloud through a secure VPN. This, combined with Cloud Armor features, prevents malicious traffic from saturating Power's data center pipelines.
The migration was completed in just five weeks without a single second of downtime or customer disruption. Today, Cloud CDN handles 93% of all web requests, drastically reducing the load on internal servers and providing a low-latency experience for shoppers.

By moving its most mission-critical front-end elements to Google Cloud with the help of Netlight, Power has created a "future-proof" architecture. The successful transition to a hybrid model has also lowered the threshold for further innovation.

Power has been running proof-of-concept projects across Google Cloud AI capabilities, including Vertex AI Search for commerce on its Danish site and Gemini Enterprise, lowering the threshold for further AI-driven innovation. Because their infrastructure and user identities are already integrated into the Google Cloud ecosystem, launching a new Proof of Concept (PoC) for 40 users now takes minimal effort.
For Power, the move wasn't just about stopping attacks; it was about building a scalable foundation where less is more, allowing the IT team to focus on higher-value, more strategic ventures rather than managing complex, disjointed tools.
Thanks to Google Cloud, the threshold for starting a proof of concept is really low–you don't have to think about users or access because everything is already there.

Consolidating multiple data warehouses into a single source of truth built on BigQuery has made everything easier. Now, if you're coming in with a Looker license from a store in Sweden, you're seeing the exact same data as the purchase or logistics operator.

Power's journey with Google Cloud has helped the company remain competitive and agile while making the most of its information. The work it completed with Google Cloud, SAP, and partners Computas and S360 to consolidate multiple data silos into BigQuery was foundational to its current IT posture.
By using SAP BDC and Datasphere on Google Cloud, Power lifted on-prem SAP data into BigQuery without losing context, providing a single source of truth for all 6,000 employees through Looker.
This unified platform positioned it for continued improvements across both backend and customer-facing systems, providing Power with everything it needs to push the envelope and better serve its market in the future.

Power is the leading electronics retailer in the Nordics, operating a high-volume omni-channel business across Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. With 6,000 employees and $2.2 billion in revenue, the company serves as a vital digital hub for consumer electronics in the region.
