Securing massive scale: From a global arena to everyday merchant success
Modern Point of Sale (POS) systems act as the central nervous system for businesses. The team behind POSe understood this perfectly when their application managed the extreme transaction volumes of the November 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup held in Indonesia. Transitioning this event-specific success into a daily operational tool for the wider retail market presented a massive scaling challenge. They needed to rapidly expand their all-in-one POSe QRSet EDC machines and POSe Mobile app to thousands of daily users without compromising speed.
As demand surged, the limitations of their legacy infrastructure surfaced. Relying on third-party hosted virtual machines, the team faced hurdles in accommodating growth forecasts and ensuring airtight data protection—a critical priority following a security breach in 2021. Managing complex workloads, including a subscription payment gateway alongside Elasticsearch, MongoDB, and MariaDB databases, required a highly elastic environment. POSe needed a powerful provider capable of handling traffic spikes while delivering enterprise-grade security.
