Now, Meitu leverages Nano Banana to support image generation and editing features. Zhang notes that the multimodal understanding capability of the Gemini model in Nano Banana is particularly useful for Meitu’s users, as it can accurately capture image characteristics and multilingual context when processing complex image reconstruction and associated semantics across images, delivering high-quality results.

For example, Designkit, Meitu’s design and image-generation app, empowers ecommerce sellers to produce professional-quality marketing visuals without design expertise. It can now help these merchants generate business-ready, culturally adaptive product visuals for different markets based on local aesthetic preferences in more than 20 languages. This way, Meitu’s merchant users are able to create appealing marketing assets efficiently and quickly expand their market reach across regions.

Supporting real-time app performance monitoring and extensive analytics for continuous service improvement
On the infrastructure end, Meitu uses Firebase to build and manage its apps. Firebase not only enables Meitu’s apps to run seamlessly across platforms, but also supports real-time app performance monitoring. With the software development kit of Firebase, Meitu’s engineers can collect usage data without writing additional codes. When users interact with apps, Firebase automatically generates records that are easy to locate and track, allowing the Meitu team to instantly notice technical issues and fix them timely.
“As an app provider serving hundreds of millions of users around the world, it was challenging to retrieve accurate insights into user experience across various network conditions and end device environments,” notes Zhang. “With Firebase, we’re able to precisely identify technical obstacles or errors in real time, which helps us improve our apps’ user experience.”
The usage data collected through Firebase is then sent to BigQuery for multidimensional cross-analysis, churning out detailed insights into product improvement. By processing large amounts of data efficiently with BigQuery, Meitu has clearer views of its product growth trends and strategies, as well as deeper understandings of its users’ needs.
