30% faster multiomics data processing with automated pipelines
10x faster scientific literature synthesis with Gemini
Eliminates hardware bottlenecks for data scientists
HAYA Therapeutics uses Google Cloud to automate complex data analysis, speeding up the advancement of novel RNA-guided medicines.
When treating complex, chronic diseases like heart failure, traditional medicine often focuses on managing the symptoms. This approach typically targets proteins, which are encoded by only 2% of human DNA. Clinical-stage precision medicine company HAYA Therapeutics takes a different path, focusing on the remaining 98%, known as the regulatory genome. This area acts like a cell’s software, determining when genes turn on or off. By identifying specific non-coding regulatory RNA molecules that cause cells to lock into a pathological state—such as continuously producing stiff scar tissue in the heart—the company aims to design precision therapies intended to redirect cells away from these harmful instructions toward a healthy and functional state.
To find these specific genetic switches, the HAYA Therapeutics team analyzes high-resolution datasets to uncover the regulatory logic that governs pathological cell states. Previously, the company's on-premises hardware demonstrated limited capacity to process this information. Data scientists had to compete for limited computing power and spend valuable time managing servers instead of focusing on science.
The company’s researchers also leverage millions of scientific articles, patents, and clinical trials to support the biological interpretation of new findings and maximize the probability of success. Conducting these literature reviews manually can span weeks. However, building an automated AI system on premises to handle this work was too time- and resource- consuming. It was also challenging to guarantee the scalability of such a system, along with its usability for non-coding colleagues, while maintaining strict security.
We needed an ecosystem that seamlessly married raw computational power with advanced generative AI. We chose Google Cloud because it provided a unified environment where our heavy computational biology pipelines and our AI-driven agentic frameworks could co-exist and scale effortlessly.

To solve these challenges, HAYA Therapeutics turned to Google Cloud. Gemini provided the generative AI capabilities to read and summarize vast amounts of scientific text. Google Cloud startup credits supported a proof-of-concept with Google Cloud Partner Zazmic, which helped de-risk the initial experiments and deploy a secure, user-friendly system.
“We needed an ecosystem that seamlessly married raw computational power with advanced generative AI,” explains Marco Mina, head of data science and AI at HAYA Therapeutics. “We chose Google Cloud because it provided a unified environment where our heavy computational biology pipelines and our AI-driven agentic frameworks could co-exist and scale effortlessly.”

HAYA Therapeutics’ workflow includes two distinct components: scaling repetitive, compute-intensive data processing with Google Cloud, and using AI to automate the synthesis of the latest scientific literature.
For its infrastructure needs, the company uses Compute Engine for its computational-biology workflows, allowing the team to run intensive data preprocessing pipelines without hardware constraints.

Our agents automate the reading and summarization of decades of biological research found across millions of published scientific articles, patents, and clinical trials. This approach ensures our data scientists are focused entirely on high-value, complex analysis to uncover the actual regulatory logic of disease and accelerate our pipeline.

By automating the ingestion and processing of expanding high-resolution multiomics datasets on Google Cloud, the system scales resources instantly to handle data bursts. This prevents failed runs caused by capacity limits and helps ensure researchers can quickly test new hypotheses.
On the AI front, HAYA Therapeutics worked with Zazmic to build an in-house framework using Gemini. Researchers use simple, no-code visual interfaces to deploy AI agents that automatically explore unstructured scientific literature, clinical trials, and patents. This supports the biological interpretation of the company's newly discovered regulatory RNA targets within existing global research, establishing a grounded foundation for further drug development.
Using federated search with Gemini, the company searches securely across external public sources.
This enables the agents to perform this cross-referencing without requiring the company to centralize all its data first.
By automating complex literature reviews and reducing IT bottlenecks, the company shortens the time between generating raw data and producing actionable biological insights—such as helping assess whether a specific non-coding regulatory RNA is a promising target capable of reprogramming cell states in conditions like cardiac fibrosis.
“Our agents automate the reading and summarization of decades of biological research found across millions of published scientific articles, patents, and clinical trials,” notes Mina. “This approach ensures our data scientists are focused entirely on high-value, complex analysis to uncover the actual regulatory logic of disease and accelerate our pipeline.”
We’ve scaled our computational biology infrastructure into an elastic discovery engine. By automating our heavy data processing and deploying AI agents for biological exploration, we empower our scientists to focus on what matters most: decoding regulatory genome biology to accelerate the development of next-generation RNA-targeted medicines.

Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer, HAYA Therapeutics
Moving to Google Cloud has transformed the way the HAYA Therapeutics team works. By using its automated pipelines and infinite scaling, the company accelerated its high-resolution multimodal omics and single-cell technology data processing by 30%, giving researchers the speed they need to analyze complex multiomics data without waiting on busy servers. The agents built using Gemini reduced manual literature reviews and patent cross-referencing from a multi-day task to an automated process completed in hours—a 10x acceleration. Furthermore, by eliminating the system limitations of the old hardware, data scientists reclaimed hours of lost time previously spent investigating failed analyses.

These improvements allow the team to focus fully on identifying the causal targets driving disease and developing therapeutic approaches to address them.
HAYA Therapeutics is rapidly expanding its pipeline of therapies into new areas, including a collaboration to discover novel regulatory genome targets for obesity and related metabolic conditions. To support its growth, the company plans to deepen its use of Google Cloud by automatically scaling compute resources to process high-resolution genomics data without hardware limits. More importantly, the team will use its AI agents to explore larger datasets to expand its sophisticated predictive models and advance its drug development platform. These models empower the HAYA regulatory genome platform to identify, drug, and track new regulatory RNA targets with high speed and precision, ultimately helping to advance novel RNA-guided therapies that aim to reprogram disease-driving cell states and restore cellular health.
