Providing high-quality dental and oral care requires a precise understanding of what individuals need at different times in their lives. Headquartered in Switzerland, Curaden develops specialized preventive care products tailored to unique milestones—from gentle oral care products for infants to targeted options for older people.

With a global presence spanning dozens of countries, and a dedicated community that trains thousands of dental professionals every year, the company needs to maintain a clear and comprehensive overview of its international business performance.

However, gathering insights on global sales and product trends was historically a slow, manual process. Because international operations grew organically over time, commercial data sat trapped within isolated regional systems. To create performance overviews, local teams had to extract records from various web shops and spend valuable time manually compiling them into standalone spreadsheet templates.

We wanted an environment that gave us complete visibility from day one without paying for idle capacity. Google Cloud scales smoothly with our growth and BigQuery gives us the processing speed to turn messy, fragmented numbers into trusted operational insights.

This fragmentation made it difficult to maintain clear commercial visibility. Separate time zones meant that local data updates frequently conflicted with central records, making it hard for international offices to agree on a single set of sales numbers.

Decision-makers often received business reports two to three months late. At the same time, central pricing analysts had to combine mismatched spreadsheet formats sent over email, which could cause computers to freeze under the workload, while marketing teams had to plan campaigns without specific insights into regional product trends.

To fix these visibility issues and free its teams from time-consuming manual processes, Curaden decided to build a centralized, cloud-based data repository. After searching for a highly scalable environment that could grow with the business, Curaden turned to Google Cloud.

“We wanted an environment that gave us complete visibility from day one without paying for idle capacity,” explains Indira Macias, data strategy lead at Curaden. “We chose Google Cloud because it scales smoothly with our growth, while BigQuery gives us the processing speed to turn messy, fragmented numbers into trusted operational insights.”

Managing sales and forecasting insights with BigQuery and Data Studio

To give teams the clarity they need to work effectively, Curaden focused on creating a shared analytics foundation. Using Managed Service for Apache Airflow to coordinate its data architecture, the company built an automated pipeline that funnels information from eight country systems, 46 international web shops running across 12 servers, and the HubSpot CRM platform directly into BigQuery.

Google Cloud provides scalable solutions for upstream data ingestion from source systems. We use Cloud Run to extract data from marketing tools, ecommerce platforms, and ERP systems. Due to its serverless nature, Cloud Run handles infrastructure provisioning and scaling automatically, allowing data engineers to focus on building reliable data pipelines.

By routing this data into interactive Data Studio dashboards, Curaden changed how its daily business planning operates. Sales and pricing managers now track commercial trends down to specific product lines and item numbers. This granular visibility allows them to calculate product margins accurately, monitor regional stocks, and evaluate inventory without relying on manual file transfers.

Instead of adjusting campaigns blindly, the marketing team now uses these Data Studio dashboards to track consumer preferences in real time, making it easier to personalize promotions for specific markets. Furthermore, regional subsidiaries no longer suffer from mismatched numbers, with up-to-date daily figures allowing them to confidently propose upcoming forecasts and budgets.

To maintain these pipelines with a lean engineering team, the data operations group uses Gemini capabilities inside BigQuery.

“Instead of writing complex SQL scripts from scratch, we can use everyday language with Gemini to transform data columns, and the system auto-generates the database query,” Macias explains. “Having this assistant directly inside BigQuery removes technical friction and allows our engineers to work much faster.”

Building on this data foundation, Curaden then formed an internal AI core group to explore company productivity. Working with Google Cloud partner PCG, the company rolled out a trial version of Gemini Enterprise for 50 users. As part of this work, the team created an interactive assistant on the company intranet. Powered by Cloud Run functions and grounded securely in company data, including IT and HR guidelines, this agent uses Gemini to parse internal documentation safely, allowing employees to receive immediate answers about corporate policies.

Cultivating a transparent, data-driven culture to support future expansion

In six months, Curaden created 47 active dashboards globally, moving from isolated data pockets to a unified operational model. Internal debates over conflicting local numbers have been replaced by a collaborative focus on data that teams can agree on to make informed choices. Every global department looks at the same core figures, allowing them to collaborate effectively and make business decisions with confidence.

As the company plans its next phases, it’s actively evaluating Looker to introduce more robust data governance. While Data Studio allowed Curaden to launch its initial dashboards quickly, the company could use Looker to build centralized row-level security controls. This would enable developers to maintain a single primary dashboard template for the entire company, while ensuring that regional teams automatically see only the data permitted for their specific markets. At the same time, Curaden is also evaluating a unified file storage setup to make backend connections simpler. As for Gemini Enterprise, the company plans to expand the use of its interactive assistant by building more use cases, while rolling out the agentic platform to users across the organization.

Our data journey has completely changed our corporate dynamic. As we grow, we plan to expand this environment so every global partner can see exactly how to optimize their practices, turning our shared metrics into healthier routines for our customers worldwide.

Ultimately, this digital modernization supports Curaden's overarching focus on preventive health. By unlocking the value of its data, the company can expand its professional training networks more accurately and deliver its unique care solutions exactly where they will have the most positive impact, advancing the company’s long-term vision of better oral health globally.

“Our data journey has completely changed our corporate dynamic,” Macias concludes. “As we grow, we plan to expand this environment so every global partner can see exactly how to optimize their practices, turning our shared metrics into healthier routines for our customers worldwide.”
