From 8 hours to 15 minutes: Reduced complex data analysis time by over 95% using conversational analytics
Single source of truth: Unifying disparate data from spreadsheets, API integration, and various databases into a centralized BigQuery lakehouse
Democratizing insights: Scaling KPI distribution from executive leadership down to line managers across the entire organization
AI-driven excellence: Leveraging Gemini Enterprise and Model Context Protocol (MCP) to streamline workflows and building toward a holistic, 360-degree view of the organization
ALLO Fiber modernized its legacy data environment by adopting Looker and BigQuery, transitioning from manual reporting to a self-service model. By integrating conversational analytics and Gemini AI, the company now empowers teams to resolve complex business questions in minutes rather than days.
We realized we had a huge opportunity to take all of our disparate data sources, democratize them in BigQuery, and use LookML to provide a single source of truth for the organization.
Kevin Wujcik
Director of Software Engineering and Analytics, ALLO Fiber
For years, ALLO Fiber operated in an extremely data-rich environment, yet the actual ability to harness that data was consistently hampered by fragmented systems and siloes. The analytics team relied heavily on a complex, fragile web of manual spreadsheets and localized Access databases to track performance. While the team was highly skilled, this labor-intensive approach led to significant operational bottlenecks, including frequent data discrepancies and "version control" nightmares where specific queries were updated in one file but forgotten in another. As a "KPI-heavy" organization focusing on critical growth metrics like line counts, market share, and Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), the lack of a unified platform became a definitive barrier to scaling.
The turning point arrived during a broader organizational push to modernize all internal systems and infrastructure. After evaluating several industry alternatives, including a pilot with Microsoft Fabric that the team found to be too clunky and difficult to onboard, ALLO Fiber strategically chose Google Cloud as its long-term foundation. The decision was driven by the native, seamless synergy between BigQuery and Looker. Specifically, the power of LookML offered the robust data governance and curation capabilities needed to finally establish a definitive "single source of truth." By democratizing data within a single, scalable lakehouse, ALLO Fiber aimed to ensure that every department, from the executive president to local line managers, was "reading from the same sheet of music" when viewing performance reports. This transition wasn't just about changing software tools; it was a fundamental shift in the data team's mission. They are moving from being mere "data providers" struggling with manual exports to becoming "data facilitators" who empower the rest of the business to explore, innovate, and make decisions with total confidence.
ALLO's partnership with Bytecode IO was instrumental in accelerating this transformation and ensuring its success. Their consulting team spearheaded the implementation of the new Google Cloud ecosystem, architecting a robust BigQuery foundation and optimizing the data pipeline architecture for performance and reliability. They then built out the self-service analytics environment in Looker, delivering that "single source of truth" for business metrics that is replacing the older, manual reporting methods. This foundational work was the critical catalyst that ensured the technology was not just adopted, but fully optimized to provide lasting strategic value.
With the powerful combination of Looker and BigQuery in place, ALLO Fiber began a rapid evolution toward advanced, self-service analytics. A primary strategic goal is to completely eliminate the traditional, frustrating "request and wait" cycle that has previously defined the relationship between business units and the data team. In the legacy environment, a manager needing a specific deep dive, such as analyzing TV-related trouble tickets split by geographic region or hardware type, might have to wait days or even weeks for a manual report to be built and verified.
Today, using conversational analytics, that same manager can ask questions in natural language and receive a visual, fully analyzed response in seconds.
Through Conversational Analytics, charts and analysis that would normally take eight hours to compile, can be completed within fifteen minutes. It is absolutely awesome and a great eye-opener for the team.
Kevin Wujcik
Director of Software Engineering and Analytics, ALLO Fiber
In one notable instance, a complex analysis that typically required eight hours of manual labor was completed in just fifteen minutes of "conversation" with the data. Kevin Wujcik, Director of Software Engineering and Analytics, said charts and analysis that would normally take eight hours now can be done within fifteen minutes.
The self-service model is showing promising results, encouraging greater data usage and self-service among early adopters. Results from this initiative are promising, particularly with the deployment of the no-code Agent Search Assistant. This tool, used by their customer service representatives (CSRs), has been measured to improve result quality by 87% over traditional search methods. By leveraging the Model Context Protocol (MCP), ALLO Fiber is working toward building a sophisticated, interconnected "ALLO ecosystem." The vision is to allow CSRs to have a holistic, 360-degree view of a customer—including real-time billing status, specific equipment health, and recent trouble ticket history, before engaging with a customer directly. Wujcik says the ultimate goal is to instantly give a holistic view of why a customer might be calling in before the service representative picks up the phone, with a long term vision to build an 'ALLO ecosystem' between all the company's systems.
To address the challenge of fragmented data, the analytics team is building the 'Funnel Flow' dashboard. The Looker Marketing Block provides the basis to bring together external campaign data from sources such as Meta, Google Ads, and LinkedIn with internal data, including sales figures and NPS scores. Once completed, this integrated dashboard will empower the marketing team to better understand which service bundles appeal to specific market segments and refine their outreach strategies accordingly.
As ALLO Fiber continues its ambitious journey to replace legacy systems, aiming to either replace or integrate 40 major systems within a tight two-year window, Looker remains the consistent, reliable front door to their intelligence. This partnership enables them to work smarter, maintain extreme agility in a competitive market, and achieve their goal of becoming a "center of excellence" in the broadband industry. By putting data in the hands of those who need it most, ALLO Fiber is ensuring that every employee is equipped to drive the company's mission forward.
