Email and mobile notifications

You can opt into email or mobile push notifications of errors. Stackdriver Error Reporting sends a notification in two cases:

  • When an error occurs in a project and it cannot be grouped with previous errors. Note: Error Reporting only sends notifications for the first occurrence of an error.

  • If an error that was marked as Resolved reoccurs.


If more than 5 errors reoccur in a project within an hour, Error Reporting will send a final notification, letting you know that no more notifications will be sent for the next 6 hours. This is to control the volume of notifications.

Resolution status

If an error with a resolution status of Resolved reoccurs, its resolution status changes back to Open and Error Reporting will send a notification. To learn how to manage the resolution status of your errors, see Resolution Status.

Mobile notifications

Mobile notifications are sent to the GCP Console app on Android and iOS. To opt into mobile notifications, you must first install the app on your mobile device:

Email notifications

Email notifications are sent to the email address associated with your Google Account. It is not possible to configure a custom email alias (e.g. a team email alias).

You can forward notification emails to an email alias or to a Slack channel by using Gmail's forward feature and the following filter: from:( subject:("New Error").

Subscribing to notifications

You can subscribe to Error Reporting email and mobile notifications for a project if you have one of the following Cloud IAM roles:

  • A Project Owner, Project Editor or Project Viewer role.
  • A custom role with the cloudnotifications.activities.list permission.

These roles are granted to your individual Google Account email or to a group email alias of which you might be a member. For more information, see Granting, Changing, and Revoking Access to Project Members.

Subscribe from the web

To subscribe to email and mobile push notifications from the web:

  1. Visit the Error Reporting page in the Google Cloud Platform Console.

  2. Click the menu overflow icon at the top right and select Preferences.

  3. In the resulting Communication dialog, select Error Reporting in the Product column.

  4. In the Email and Mobile columns to the right of the Error Reporting product listing, click the buttons that correspond to your notification preferences.

  5. Each time you change your preference, a panel will pop out: Preference saved successfully!

Subscribe from the GCP Console app

To subscribe to notifications from the Cloud Console app:

  1. Download the GCP Console mobile app

  2. Click the menu button at the top left of the app.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select New error notifications.

  5. Press Add project and select the project to subscribe to.

Update your notification settings

You can control your notification settings from the GCP Console's User Preferences page or from the GCP Console app's Settings > New error notifications page.
