You can continue using Translation Hub until on June 30, 2026, when it will be shut down.\n\n\u003cbr /\u003e\n\nA data retention policy lets you customize how long (in days)\nTranslation Hub retains completed translation jobs. For\nexample, if you work with sensitive content, you can set the retention policy to\none day so that Translation Hub deletes a translation job a day after\nit completes.\n\nThe data retention policy applies to the source document and the resulting\ntranslations. If you don't specify a policy, Translation Hub deletes jobs\nafter 90 days by default.\n\nImportant considerations\n------------------------\n\nRetention policies apply to source and translated documents only\n: Retention policies don't apply to downloaded translations or other\n resources that are used for a translation job, such as glossaries and\n translation memories. Those resources are managed by you, so they remain until\n you delete them.\n\nThe retention period starts when a translation job is complete\n: After you complete a machine translation, the job is considered\n complete and Translation Hub starts the retention period. If you send the\n translation to post editing, the job is then considered in progress and the\n retention policy no longer applies. After the post edit is completed,\n Translation Hub then restarts the retention period from when the\n post edit was completed.\n\nChanges to retention policies apply to newly completed jobs only\n: Any changes to a retention policy aren't retroactively applied to translation\n jobs that were completed before the change. Those jobs follow the retention\n policy that was in place when the job was completed.\n\nPortal policies override a project policy\n: You can set a retention policy on your project or on a portal. A project\n policy applies to all new and existing portals in your project, unless a portal\n has its own policy. In that case, Translation Hub uses the portal policy\n instead of the project policy.\n\nSet a project policy\n--------------------\n\n1. In the **Translation Hub** section of the Google Cloud console, go to the\n **Settings** page.\n\n [Go to the\n Settings page](https://console.cloud.google.com/translation-hub/settings)\n2. In the **Retention policy** section, specify the number of days to retain\n data from translation jobs.\n\n3. Click **Save**.\n\nView retention policy\n---------------------\n\nView how many days Translation Hub retains translation data.\n\n### View project retention policy\n\n1. In the **Translation Hub** section of the Google Cloud console, go to the\n **Settings** page.\n\n [Go to the Settings page](https://console.cloud.google.com/translation-hub/settings)\n2. In the **Retention policy** section, view the retention policy value.\n\n### View portal retention policy\n\n1. In the **Translation Hub** section of the Google Cloud console, go to the\n **Portals** page.\n\n [Go to the Portals page](https://console.cloud.google.com/translation-hub/portals)\n2. Click a portal to view its details page.\n\n3. In the **Portal detail** section, view the **Retention policy** field to see\n how long the portal retains translations.\n\nRemove project policy\n---------------------\n\nYou can remove a project policy so that all portals without a portal policy use\nthe default value of 90 days. This default doesn't apply to portals with their\nown retention policy.\n\n1. In the **Translation Hub** section of the Google Cloud console, go to the\n **Settings** page.\n\n [Go to the\n Settings page](https://console.cloud.google.com/translation-hub/settings)\n2. Click **Reset**.\n\n3. Click **Reset** to confirm this change.\n\nPortal policy\n-------------\n\nYou can set a portal-specific data retention policy only when you create a\nportal. You can't add, modify, or remove portal policies. If you must change a\nportal policy, recreate the portal with the new policy.\n\nFor more information about creating a portal and setting a retention policy, see\n[Create a portal](/translation-hub/docs/admin-enable-translations#create-portal).\n\nWhat's next\n-----------\n\n- To view how long a particular job will be retained, see [View\n retention period](/translation-hub/docs/user-retention-policy) for portal users."]]
