About StratoProbe

StratoProbe is a data collector application that automatically discovers your existing servers and databases. StratoProbe collects all required metrics for a successful migration to Google Cloud.

It then automatically sends this information to the StratoZone portal, where you can complete the cost analysis and migration plan.

How data collection works

The following section summarizes how StratoProbe gathers data from your infrastructure.

  1. You install StratoProbe on a Windows machine that can access your infrastructure.
  2. You create the credentials needed to access your assets.
  3. You manually add the IP addresses of your machines to the credentials, so that StratoProbe can access them to gather data. Alternatively, you can provide ranges of IP addresses that StratoProbe can ping to automatically identify assets.
  4. StratoProbe accesses your assets at regular intervals and collects performance data.
  5. StratoProbe sends the collected data to the StratoZone portal, where it is aggregated and analyzed.

Limitations

The following limitations apply to StratoProbe data collector:

  • StratoProbe can only be installed on Windows machines.
  • StratoProbe can only scan devices running a Windows or Linux OS.
  • When scanning databases, StratoProbe can only scan SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases.

Pricing

StratoProbe is provided as part of the StratoZone Rapid Assessment and is available to use at no charge. StratoZone assessments are active for up to 3 years, while the StratoProbe discovery is typically active for 30 days. You can connect with your Google representative to customize these time frames.
