This page provides information on value-added tax (VAT) for Google Cloud customers with billing addresses in the European Union (EU), Turkey, Bahrain, Russia, South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Cloud Billing Account type
During Google Cloud billing setup, you select your Account type: Business or Individual. Selecting Business means that you see a potential economic benefit from your development activities. For example, using Google Cloud to develop prototypes or applications with a goal of generating revenue now or in the future. Most customers use Google Cloud for business purposes.
EU, Turkey, and Bahrain
Business accounts in the EU, Turkey, and Bahrain
- Non-Irish customers—We won't add VAT charges to your account. You're responsible for determining taxes due at your country's local rate.
- Irish customers—We'll be adding VAT to your charges.
Individual accounts in the EU, Turkey, and Bahrain
Your account is subject to standard VAT charges in the country where you're located. We'll automatically add VAT to invoices for your Google Cloud use. We reserve the right to change account type to Business if we find that you're using your account for business purposes.
Russia
Individual accounts in Russia
In Russia, Google Cloud services can be used only for business purposes.
Korea
Business and Individual accounts in Korea
Your account is subject to standard VAT charges. If you are a registered business, you should provide Google with your Business Registration Number and related tax information.
In Korea, Google Cloud services can be used only for current or future commercial purposes. This means you expect a financial or business gain from your use now or in the future. Examples include testing, developing, planning, or launching a service or any other type of commercial activity such as the sale of goods and services.
So long as the purpose of your use qualifies as commercial, it does not matter whether your current status is a sole trader, self-employed merchant, corporation, partnership, student, or otherwise.
To update your Business Registration Number, sign in to the Google payments center and go to the Payments Profile section. If you need help updating your payments profile, contact Cloud Billing Support.
Malaysia
Individual and Business accounts in Malaysia
Your account is subject to standard Sales & Service Tax (SST) charges in the country where you are located. We'll automatically add SST to invoices for your Google Cloud use. We reserve the right to change account type to Business if we find that you're using your account for business purposes.
Singapore
Business and Individual accounts in Singapore
If you have a Google Cloud account, your account is subject to standard Goods and Services Tax (GST) charges in the country where you're located. We'll automatically add GST to your Google Cloud invoices. If you have a GST Registration Number, and provide it to Google, no GST will be charged.
To update your GST Registration Number, sign in to the Google payments center and go to the Payments Profile section.

Changing your tax status
You can't change the tax status of your Google Cloud billing account.
