Troubleshooting

Compute Engine

If you're having trouble configuring your Compute Engine app to use Stackdriver Debugger, follow the steps below.

Confirm the OAuth scope

Confirm that the Cloud Platform OAuth scope was enabled on the instance:

  1. Visit the VM instances page.

  2. Open an ssh session to the instance you created by clicking the SSH button that appears next to its name.

  3. Get the list of OAuth scopes enabled on the instance by entering the following at the command prompt:

    curl -H "Metadata-Flavor: Google" \
      http://metadata.google.internal/computeMetadata/v1/instance/service-accounts/default/scopes

If the Cloud Platform OAuth scope is enabled, the following appears in the output of this command:

    https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform

Stackdriver Debugger logs

By default, the Stackdriver Debugger agent creates log files in the /tmp directory. The log directory can be changed by using the --logs_dir argument in the bootstrap script.

The bootstrap script also has a --verbose option to print debug information to stderr.
