Bindplane (formerly "observIQ") is a trusted partner specializing in fast, powerful, and intuitive next-generation observability technologies—designed by engineers for engineers. Bindplane's flagship telemetry pipeline builds on OpenTelemetry and enables DevOps and ITOps teams to collect, process, and route telemetry data across diverse environments.
OpenTelemetry contributions
Bindplane is a leading contributor to the OpenTelemetry project and is deeply committed to advancing open-source observability standards. Some of their most notable contributions include the following:
- Stanza was donated to the project, which laid the foundation for the primary logging component within the OpenTelemetry Collector.
- Bindplane has contributed more than 30 Receivers to the OpenTelemetry Collector, spanning critical enterprise observability use cases.
- Bindplane contributed significantly to the design and implementation of Connectors.
- Bindplane contributed significantly to the design and implementation of the Open Agent Management Protocol ("OpAMP"), enabling remove management of the OpenTelemetry Collector.
Partnership
Bindplane has been a partner since 2018. Google and Bindplane have expanded their partnership in 2025.
What is Bindplane?
Bindplane's flagship product shares the name of its parent company. Bindplane is the industry's first OpenTelemetry-native telemetry pipeline. It allows Google Cloud customers to collect, refine, and ship metrics, logs, and traces to any service or project in Google Cloud. Bindplane provides the controls you need to reduce observability costs and simplify the deployment and management of telemetry agents at scale.
Bindplane editions
Bindplane offers several editions, one available to Google Cloud Observability customers at no additional cos. For more information, see Bindplane's solutions document.
How it works
Bindplane integrates with Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging, allowing you to capture metrics and logs from parts of your infrastructure that aren't covered by the monitored resources. These resources include:
- Platforms like Microsoft Azure Compute and VMware vCenter
- Line-of-business applications like Oracle EBS and JBoss
- Database engines like Microsoft SQL Server and OracleDB
Bindplane deploys OpenTelemetry collectors to collect, process and ship telemetry to Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Google Cloud Managed Service for Prometheus, Cloud Storage, and Google Security Operations, where you can visualize and analyze this data like any other signals built into Google Cloud.
When sending data to Monitoring and Logging, Bindplane refers to the Monitoring-provided monitored resources. Monitored resources in Monitoring correspond to sources in Bindplane. For information about the metrics and logs collected by Bindplane for each source, see the Sources documentation.
Bindplane architecture and security
Security is an important consideration within the design of the Bindplane solution. Bindplane has passed a Google security audit before partnering with Google to jointly offer this solution.
The architecture and security systems employ strong authentication throughout. Additionally, Bindplane regularly audits its security practices and performs penetration testing of its systems on a frequent basis.
Example use cases
When you use Bindplane, you can collect metrics or logs from the following environments for analysis in Cloud Monitoring and Logging:
- On-premises host monitoring and logging in Google Cloud Observability and Google Security Operations.
- Syslog ingestion from firewalls, switches, and routes in Google Cloud Observability.
- On-premises Kubernetes system and application monitoring and logging in Google Cloud Observability.
