Use pre-release features in Cloud Code for VS Code

You can try pre-release features, provide valuable feedback, and ask Cloud Code for VS Code developers and other users questions by installing pre-release builds and joining the Cloud Code Insiders group.

Pre-release builds can include bug fixes and features still in development that can be removed in a future release. Pre-release features are listed on this page and on the welcome page in your IDE.

Available pre-release features

The following features are available in the Insider build:

Apigee local development and archive deployment

This release enables you to integrate API platform management with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) that you use to develop, test, and deploy applications.

During local development, use Apigee in VS Code to develop your API proxies and verify the functionality through unit and manual testing against the Apigee Emulator (local runtime). During archive deployment, deploy to Apigee X for integration testing and release, leveraging an archive that contains the complete environment and API proxy configuration.

For more information, see Overview of local development using Apigee.

Single Cloud Code icon and customized experience

The icons to open the separate Kubernetes, Cloud Run, API, Apigee, and Secret Manager views are replaced by a single icon. Clicking Cloud Code Cloud Code opens a pane with tools to manage the following resources:

  • Clusters
  • Cloud Run
  • Cloud APIs
  • Secret Manager
  • Apigee

The tasks you used to do in the separate explorers work the same in the new pane. For example, you can pause on the heading of the Clusters section to see the menu item to + Add a Cluster to the KubeConfig.

The Development sessions section still shows a structured view of your Kubernetes development sessions.

A new section, Help and feedback explorer, links you to walkthroughs, documentation, links to file bugs and request features, and release notes.
