However, in order to support new\nfeatures in the future, Google Cloud VMware Engine will convert the resource names for\nprivate clouds to a standardized format that is more consistent with\nGoogle Cloud. Specifically, this resource name translation will make minor\nchanges to the names of resources in your project, such as:\n\n- Changing capital letters to lowercase\n- Changing white space to hyphens\n\nWhile name translation has no impact to your private cloud, if you have custom\nscripts or automations that refer to private cloud resources, you will need to\nupdate the scripts with the new names. For example, a resource named *Customer\nPrivate Cloud 03* will need the new translated name of *customer-private-cloud-03*.\n| **Note:** Resource name changes are permanent and can't be changed once created.\n\nMaking your name translation selection\n--------------------------------------\n\nBefore you can access the Google Cloud CLI or VMware Engine API, you will be\nprompted to make your name translation selection in the VMware Engine\nportal if you have resources that need translation. There are three options for\nname translation:\n\n1. No choice is made\n2. Opting in\n3. Opting out\n\nWhen no choice is made, the following message is displayed:\n\n\"Resources in your project will need to have a name translation to allow access\nto the Google Cloud CLI and Google VMware Engine API. This name translation\nwill take place in 2 weeks. Changing the resource names may impact scripts or\nworkflows that referenced the resource name.
