Google은 2016년부터 Cloud SQL 고객에게 2세대 인스턴스를 제공하기 시작했습니다. 2세대 인스턴스는 향상된 성능, 가용성, 저장용량을 제공합니다. 2018년 10월에 1세대 인스턴스를 2세대로 업그레이드할 수 있는 도구를 출시했고, 2019년 1월 29일부터는 2세대를 위해 1세대 인스턴스의 지원을 중단했습니다.
2020년 3월 25일 이후로는 1세대의 사용을 완전히 중단하여 더 이상 지원하지 않습니다.
